Watched Hey Ram

I finally went and bought Hey Ram on DVD today. Over all I liked the movie, though I must admit as someone said to many of sex scenes in it. I liked the way how Kamal Hasan portrayed Gandhi. And the thing which I admired the most was Muhammad Ali Jinnah wasnt shown as the villain (as every Indian movie on the partition). The specail effects were okay. I dont like how they do those animations thingis in the movie. It just doesnt look right. The thing which disappointed me was Shahrukh Khan’s acting, hhe is undoubtedly one of the best actors in the Indian film industry right now and he simply didnt have the intensity and the enthusiasm. Kamal Hasan did a very good job, and I think Rani Mukerjee also did a real good job playing a bengally. Naseer ud din Shah didnt sound like Gandhi at all. I think oer all this movie was good and something different produced out of bollywood after a while… And now I await Mohabbatain!

i'd seen it some time back and felt it was a good effort. didnt see any outrageous sex scenes, but prolly what i watched was censored. Sure, ShahRukh wasnt all that intense, but he never was too good at serious acting.

Rani Mukerjee also did a real good job playing a bengally<

i felt so too. she is a bengali in real life too, and that had probably helped. i was dissapointed that her role was so small. vasundhara rao's plays her role really well too.

another thing that struck me was the meticulous attention Kamalhaasan has paid to every minute detail. quite artistically done, wonderful bengali poetry - aakashe jyotsna, sweet and seductive marathi music, tamil classical music, all put in without overstuffing.

Why do bollywood people always show "laavnis" (folk dance) when they want to portray Maharashtrian culture ???!!! :) :)

Alibeta,
I don't think any Indian movie so far has shown Jinnah as the villian ("Gandhi was not an Indian movie)

Laavani... yup.. i have not seen a sexier dress that 'patal'.. some of the best and neglected marathi literature is there..
