Fraud,
My comments were sarcastic...intentionally to prove a point.
Many mind-sets are easily traced. How I wish we could overcome the brain-washing.
Fraudz…some desi laugh so loud you need rooN in your ears. Desi lafa (laugha, or laughter) matches or exceeds any other lafa in the world. But just as you, I have also noticed that desis usually pass each other by without looking and exchanging greetings. I think we tend to be quiet colloquial and usually not very open to strangers. In my neighborhood in Lahore and in my village, people are more likely to exchange smiles and hellos to those they know.
There are techniques to make a girl smile back at you. Sometime I will share that with you.

No, we are talking about eye contact not physical contact here.
I don't think Desi has anything to do about smiling or not. In everyday lives, some people are just reserved with strangers.
Dopey people are busy etc, but dont tell me you have not noticed desis ignoring a new desi even in a work setting where they know they will eventually meet the person. Why not just go and say hello.
NY thanks for the offer but I managed allright
Well, frankly, I never experienced that problem in work place. As, I am always the first one to say hello to a Desi, even if they are hesistant. I make friends easily...well, workplace hello hi type of friends.

Wow!! This thread has given me a whole new insight into desi behavior

A few years back, I used to wonder about this ‘desis avoid desis’ phenomenon

I mean, c’mon, I am neither an alien nor invisible. Guess what? I don’t bite either!
I kinda agree with sabah about the reason: many ppl just don’t want that extra bak-bak to follow. Its gross and un-necessary. I think its important to be kind to each other. And I am sure most of us can afford to put on a light smile on da face. Its a nice and ‘safe’ reaction compared to the ‘Oh, I just saw a desi’ frown.

May be cos if you include all the different types of desis there are SO many of us
http://www3.pak.org/gupshup/smilies/biggrin.gif
(about 1.5 billion!!!

)
Nah I come across the same thing many times too. I guess I am guilty of it too (i.e. of sometimes not saying anything)

But more often then not i will try to smile and say “hi”.
Degas here ya go, brought it up for your thread.
