Wasim Hassan Raja has been appointed the new
Coach of the Pakistan Team. Read on.
Pakistan had been without a coach since
Mushtaq Mohammad’s assignment ended with
the World Cup. Pakistan had earlier tried to
woo former South Africa coach Bob Woolmer
but appointed Raja on Wednesday.
Raja played 57 tests for Pakistan and takes
over a team which has three of its players,
including skipper Wasim Akram, suspende
until they are cleared of match-fixing charges.
A Pakistan Cricket Board statement said Raja
had been appointed on a ‘long-term basis’.
Well, we heard a lot of positive stuff about Mushtaq Mohammad....however he did'nt do much did he! I think Wasim Raja may have some problems, at least initially. He could turn out to be a useful coach, you never know.
Personally, I would have gone for a foreign
coach, simply because we need someone like that who can maintain discipline and at the same time, make sure that no one is slacking off or playing politics. Javed Miandad was a
great batsmen, but a lousy coach. Lets see
how Raja fares. Either way though, Wasim Raja
is definately gonna do a better job
than his brother would have. :)
