Wasim and Waqar

Re: Wasim and Waqar

Just an addition, India has never produced a bowler who crossed 150 km per hour either, let alone swing/reverse swing at those speeds…Only Waqar has done it…

Re: Wasim and Waqar

Actually its the other way around. Because of india’s unability to produce fast bowlers of any class they have spinner role models who can make the ball spin 10 feets on a spinner paradise and a fast bowler graveyard on their home grounds. By the way " IT HAPPENS ONLY IN INDIA"

Re: Wasim and Waqar

we do the impossible u know:D

Re: Wasim and Waqar

fkhan2 - may be, may be not but the way you say it seems a bit too negative than warranted.

My personal opinion is that the level of professional training and grooming of both the physique and the technique of pace bowling just hasn't materialized in India. There's recent talk of it so we'll see in the next few years.

If you take the golden pace era of the Caribbeans - I doubt if they had the kind of training that Indians are going to need - (again my opinion) - that entire racial group has such body rhythm and stamina that in general desi's lack and so need to make up by childhood training.

Quite frankly, Imran, Wasim and Shoaib are (my opinion) exceptions than rule. But the enormous success and charisma (girls swooning at the sight of Imran's pic...) of Imran obviously sets the goal for a generation of youth.

The Aussies and English who have had great success with pace I think were good products of such early focussed training - physique and technique. That's probably the more feasible development model for India than hoping to repeat the Caribbeans or Pakistani path

Re: Wasim and Waqar

dude i was commenting on your explanation of lack of fast bowlers in india. I guess you said that its probably because india has spinner role models. On which I said that india had to come up with spinner role models primarily because they never had a fast bowler of wasim n waqar’s class. Even then these “roles models” are only destructive on pitches which are made exlusively for them, where bowlers like murali kartik can spin the bowl as if he is the best spinner of the ball.
I agree with you that a good sound system generates good players like we see in Australia. In subcontinent, the system sucks. But Allhamdulliah pakistan is blessed with enormous talent due to which we have seen bowlers like imran wasim n waqar and where even a mediocre bowler can match indian high standards.
Don’t take it personally dude, but this is a fact that when it comes to talent in this department india has always been unlucky.
