I agree with Wasim Akram on Fast Bowling
Jab se Misbah aya hai captain our fast bowling is dead now almost. He is just too negative in his approach whether its batting or captaining the side
I dun consider Tanvir as a fast bowler he is utterly crap

Re: Wasim Akram on 1st ODI Loss Against Australia
who do you have 'fast bowlers' in your mind who could be a good replacement of likes of Asif and Aamir? It was his luck or bad-luck when he became captain the best bowlers were indicted and jailed.
Re: Wasim Akram on 1st ODI Loss Against Australia
Our current pace bowlers incl. Gul are obviously not in the same league as Imran, Wasim, Waqar, Fazal, Shoaib, Asif, Amir and Sarfraz
Infact I cannot remember our pace attack being this mediocre since the mid-80s (when Imran was injured and did not play for 2.5 years from early 1983 to late 1985) and wayward medium pace trundlers like Tahir Naqqash, Rashid Khan, Jalaluddin and Mohsin Kamal formed our pace attack. Azeem Hafeez and Sikander Bakht were slightly better than the rest
*But first and foremost you need a total on the board *(Kaka's point) that your bowling line-up feels reasonably confident of defending. **200 is a nothing total in a 50-over game esp. since the introduction of bowling and batting powerplays in ODI.
**Against good sides even your best possible attack (Imran, Waqar, Wasim, Qadir and Saqlain) would fail to defend such low totals 70-80% of the time
Re: Wasim Akram on 1st ODI Loss Against Australia
Can you list the fast bowlers which Misbah or the board have not played which would be in the same league as the W's, Imran or Amir etc. The cupboard is bare, unless you can enlighten us,

That was my point.
Despite the hype that Pakistan has talent in abundance, we are struggling to find good genuine pacers.
Re: Wasim Akram on 1st ODI Loss Against Australia
But it is also probably due to the reluctance of successive (defensive) captains (Inzy, Misbah etc.) to try out new pacers like Rahat and Anwar Ali
Re: Wasim Akram on 1st ODI Loss Against Australia
^ they SHOULD give consistence chance to Junaid, Hammad, Anwar etc
Tanveer etc are tried and tested....
Re: Wasim Akram on 1st ODI Loss Against Australia
I think because Tanvir offers something with the bat (not that he has made any substantial runs of late), Misbah and the management have gone for safety.
I would replace Cheema with Junaid. Tanvir is not a genuine all-rounder and Razzaq should have been selected ahead of him. Hammad's bowling is too weak at the moment. Both not selected for ODIs so they will probably persist with Tanvir
As proven over the years bits and pieces cricketers will never win you games. You either play genuine pacers (Junaid etc.) or genuine all-rounders (Razzaq - bowling has gone downhill but he should be in the team mainly as a late-middle order batsman + 6th bowler who can bowl 4 or 5 overs)

Junaid is being palyed in tests consistently. He should also play in ODI's as well. Why he is not being played in the shorter format is beyond me.
As to other bowlers many have been tried and failed at international level. Recent example was that tall guy which everyone wanted in the team and when he played against England he was a total flop. I dont see any Amir or Asif on the horizon.
Re: Wasim Akram on 1st ODI Loss Against Australia
So if we dont have Asif Amir doesnt mean we should stop focusing on our fast bowlingWe should go with the best available options out thereCan Anybody please tell me Why Wahab doesnt play under Misbah captaincy? While he performed very well under Afridi with teams against England Africa and in the World CupWhy?Why doesnt Junaid gets a proper chance ahead of Tanvir who sucks big time

Why only Misbah, the team is selected by the selectors, the captain and coach have an input but just to blame Misbah, well in your case it is understandable. You have still not said which bowlers. Junaid yes, Wahab okish, medium trundler not really fast. Anyother
