Washing the dishes that had eggs beaten in them !

Ok so I am having some serious issues.. with the anda smell.

Usually as soon as I have beaten the egg, I place the bowl and the spoon in the sink and run some water over it. Then I place the bartan in the dishwasher and at the end of the day the dishwasher is turned on. Occasionally, not every time, the plates and glasses have that specific anda stink after the dishwasher round is done..

What can I do to get rid of that horrible anda stink?

Re: Washing the dishes that had eggs beaten in them !

distilled white vinegar soak.

Re: Washing the dishes that had eggs beaten in them !

hmmm .. thanks ehle , will try it out.

Do you think I should replace my ceramic bowls with plastic ones for egg in particular. Coz I feel plastic washes nicely as compared to ceramic or china when it comes to eliminating smells .. :hmmm:

Are you washing them with warm water?

Wash the egg beaten and fried egg eaten dishes under cold water. Better, let them soak in cold soapy water for sometime. Heat (of warm water) aggrevates and makes the smell penetrate the dish

Re: Washing the dishes that had eggs beaten in them !

TLK  you stole my advice.

I can’t say I’ve ever had this problem but I always wash egged or cheesed dishes with cold water. Also probs don’t put these ones in the dishwasher.

Plastic is worse for smells.

Re: Washing the dishes that had eggs beaten in them !

plastic is porous and absorbs smells/colors

Lol. Sorry stoppit.

Yes good point about plastic dishes stoppit and khatti.

Also to keep in mind that when you eat eggs, even your ceramic coffee mug (if you are drinking coffee or tea with your breakfast) will catch the smell. That also needs to be washed in cold water

Re: Washing the dishes that had eggs beaten in them !

If I eat a boiled/fried egg, I just place wax paper over the plate so the smell is never transferred. I will try the cold water trick with the bowl I use for beating egg. Thanks!

Re: Washing the dishes that had eggs beaten in them !

why don’t you just wash them right away with cold water instead of leaving them until the dishwasher is full?

Re: Washing the dishes that had eggs beaten in them !

soak the bowl in soapy water for sometime before putting it in dishwasher

Re: Washing the dishes that had eggs beaten in them !

soak in baking soda solution or bleach for a few minutes. that takes away the annoying smell…make sure these bartans don’t touch they other bartans before being washed.

Re: Washing the dishes that had eggs beaten in them !

i always wash with cold water and then put the dishes at the ‘lower stand’ in the dishwasher and far back so they do not mix with the ‘clean’ ones and so no smell transfers to rest of the dishes.

Re: Washing the dishes that had eggs beaten in them !

the eggs that i buy have no smell. they are already injected with smell-buster solutions. eggs are expensive though!

Re: Washing the dishes that had eggs beaten in them !

Egg’s smell is really very strong but if washed right away after you use it, will help.
If this one dish/plate is causing problem and making other dishes stinky, I would suggest, you wash them separately.
If I were you, I would have not put it in the dishwasher as washing just one plate, bowl or a spoon is not a big deal especially when washing it with other utensils is causing smell.

hahaha…hazam nahiiN huii kia?

Re: Washing the dishes that had eggs beaten in them !

you got me TLK, that is what I usually do . I wash all dishes with extremely hot water and ovbviously the dishwasher does its round with hot water too, so that is the root cause of the problem. Thanks for bringing this to my attention, I am going to start washing them in cold water:))))

Re: Washing the dishes that had eggs beaten in them !

I think this is a great idea .. I will try this out, thanks so much for sharing

Re: Washing the dishes that had eggs beaten in them !

I think ceramic and glass dishes wash much better than plastic. add a teaspoon of baking soda along with your detergent for washing.
