Washing clothes

When ever I wash clothes in the washing machine they don’t get clean meaning u still see stains etc and the colour of the clothes fades and i don’t know why. I wash darks and whites separate but still they lose that colour in them.

What am I doing wrong?

Re: Washing clothes

use better quality detergent and in the recommended measurement. use smaller loads. you may consider using color-safe bleaches. use spot/stain removing agent directly on the spots/stains before putting your cloths in the washer.

Thanks KKF... I use bold (mum uses this too without any issues)

What's colour safe bleaches?

And I use vanish on stains I see before I put them in the wash as well

Re: Washing clothes

u r welcome Zimzimma dunno about BOLD because i haven't seen/used this product in Canada.

color-safe bleaches are bleaches that are neutral on colored clothes so you can use without distorting colors of your clothes.

Re: Washing clothes

also use warm and cold water instead of hot water.

Our washing machine is hooked up to the cold water pipe...

Re: Washing clothes

I love doing laundry it’s one of household chores I don’t dread. Yes, try smaller loads, good quality detergent. I always add some white vinegar to my liquid detergent. Every month I do a vinegar and baking soda rinse for one cycle. I don’t like powder detergent I prefer liquid.
Maybe the washing machine needs an adjustment or the load is too heavy or too light. Make sure the connections are fitted perfectly and really bad stained clothing needs to be pretreated.

Re: Washing clothes

Try adding “Oxy Clean” to the load. Look for it in the laundry aisle of your grocery/ supermarket. Try using “Shout” instead of vanish. For certain clothes like shalwar kameez etc I use the delicate cycle on the washing machine. That prevents color fades.

Thanks guys!

What bout jeans? I have wrecked so many of hubby’s nice jeans… You can see streaks of line where it’s faded

Fuzzy… What does vinegar do?

Re: Washing clothes

I think you get streaks of washing powder if you overload. Use liquid soap or gel instead.

A way to determine if you have too much load is that if you have to push the clothes into the washing machine drum, that means its got too much in it!

^ I used to do that but don’t anymore :cb:
