Urdu times a Pakistani newspaper has recently published an article quoting Quaid-e-Azam Mohammed Ali Jinnah that he was a panjabi rajput from Sahiwal. His family had moved to Bombay and then they ended up marrying in khojaas and parsi’s. Can ANYONE provide the link to that article please???
Re: Was quaid-e-Azam a panjabi rajput from Sahiwal
I always thought he was ethnically a Gujarati, his surname Jinnahbhai certianly sounds very Gujju.
Religiously he was born into a Ismaeli family and was very liberal like his religion but later in life he converted to the Ahl us-Sunnah wa al-Jama'ah (Sunni) understanding of Islam and followed scholars from the Deoband school.

nstar777, yes the roots of Quaid-e-Azam's family are from Sahiwal. Urdu times have printed the correct information.
I have written a 80 pages paper on Quaid-e-Azam & during my research to my astonishment I found out the same thing.

Najim can you share more bits from your research? Thanks!
and for what purpose/project was the reasearch compiled?
During what dates did Jinnah's ancestors move from NW India to Bombay?

Re: Was quaid-e-Azam a panjabi rajput from Sahiwal
Well that paper was published in 1991 in Lahore I have the material saved in Pakistan somewhere. The research was in Urdu language, I had to translate a lot of material from English to Urdu.
I must admit I dont remember most of that from top of my head.

Re: Was quaid-e-Azam a panjabi rajput from Sahiwal
no, he was actually from Kharian. He used to build huge bon fires and marvel at the beauty of the flame and was convinced that God himself was present inside the flame.
Re: Was quaid-e-Azam a panjabi rajput from Sahiwal
One thing is for sure after all this fuss here that, soon our children back in Pakistan will be reading in Pakistan studies:
"Pakistan, Punjab maiN waqe'Y hai :)"

Yeah, too liberal to make its follower prostrate in front of the paragon of holiness and virtue, that half-bred mutt, prince of I don't know where, but lives in France...AGA KAHN....
And for the last time, Jinnah at no point in his life was a Ismaeli...

Re: Was quaid-e-Azam a panjabi rajput from Sahiwal
That's right. But, lets not forget that we're discussing his ancestry and not his ethnicity. But you're right when you say that he was from the stock of Punjabi Rajputs from Sahiwal. He came from a Rajput sub-clan (Lohana or Kamyana) that is settled in Sahiwal.
Re: Was quaid-e-Azam a panjabi rajput from Sahiwal
