All children are born muslim but when you do discussion with syeds they say He SAW was born muslim from the start? How to answer that? Wasnt he SAW became muslim when Quran was revealed on him beacuse before that period is called period of jahiliya?
Nabi Pak SAWS worshiped and submitted to only one God even before revelation came to him. He never worshiped idols. So maybe this is what qualifies him SAWS as a Muslim even before he began his mission. Just a guess on my part as I am not an aalim.
Allah assigned thousands of prophets through various civilizations and time eras. By your definition, everyone before the birth of Prophet Muhammad (saw) would be considered non muslim. Not true.
Each prophet brought forth the same monotheistic approach, declaring the oneness of Allah and his (the prophet's) own role as the messenger of Allah. Those who believed were expected to maintain that belief (for generations, if need be) until the next Messenger. Later generations were expected to corroborate any new prophet and his message from Allah. The deviations occurred when people refused to follow that new messenger, holding on to the previous one.
The term 'muslim' is not necessarily applicable here. The Quran considers those who believed in Allah through the entire span of mankind, as Believers. Those who disregarded the teachings of Allah's messengers in any time period were non believers and those who faked conversions, the hypocrites.
Another way to look at it is that His (saw) father's name was Abdullah which meant servant of Allah. Paternal Grandfather's name was Abdul Muttalib. His leanage was from Hazrat Ibrahim and Ismaeel. Hazrat Ibrahim made a Dua to have a nation of believers from his bloodline (Surah Baqarah verse 128). Durood e Ibrahimi is direct blessings towards the family of the prophet, a rank that could not have been established for kafirs.
Looking at Hazrat Maryam and Hazrat Eesa as an example, I'm reluctant to believe that Allah would choose a kaafir to behold and give birth to the most prominent entity (Muhammad saw) in the history of mankind. However, I will avoid any guesswork in my response. Hopefully @Monk can shed some light at us.
By the morning brightness
93:2
and by the night when it grows still,
93:3
your Lord has not forsaken you [Prophet], nor does He hate you,
93:4
and the future will be better for you than the past;
93:5
your Lord is sure to give you so much that you will be well satisfied.
93:6
Did He not find you an orphan and shelter you?
93:7
Did He not find you lost and guide you?
93:8
Did He not find you in need and make you self-sufficient?
93:9
So do not be harsh with the orphan
93:10
and do not chide the one who asks for help;
93:11
talk about the blessings of your Lord.
bold verses seems like rasoolullah's childhood being addressed. Do you get the same feeling as what those people claim??
None the less his character was amazing before islam, no idol worshiping no drinking no ralations etc etc.
Short answer is don't get into such discussions.
A Muslim by definition is one who submits to Allah. All the prophets submitted to Allah so they were all Muslim. An example of this can be found in the Quran in **ayat 3:67 **where Allah says:
"Abraham was neither a Jew nor a Christian. But he was one inclining toward truth, a Muslim. And he was not one of the polytheists."
The above is the English translation, however the ayat contains the words **haneefan musliman. **Your question is about Nabi Pak SAWS, but he SAWS came from the lineage of Ibrahim AS. Therefore, I believe that the same principle would extend to Nabi Pak SAWS as well.
**Simple answer to your question is, Yes he was born Muslim. All the Prophets were born Muslims and were following same main Islamic rules that Islam teaches us today. He (ﷺ) was practicing deen Ibrahimi (Ibrahim :Allaih: was Muslim too) before the nuzool of Wahi and even after nuzool of Quran.
Say, "Indeed, my Lord has guided me to a straight path - a correct religion - the way of Ibrahim, inclining toward truth. And he was not among those who associated others with Allah ."
Surah 6, Ayah 161
The simple reason why we are called Muslims and others are not is just because we were labelled by this name from Allah.
And strive for Allah with the striving due to Him. He has chosen you and has not placed upon you in the religion any difficulty. [It is] the religion of your father, Abraham. Allah named you "Muslims" before [in former scriptures] and in this [revelation] that the Messenger may be a witness over you and you may be witnesses over the people. So establish prayer and give zakah and hold fast to Allah . He is your protector; and excellent is the protector, and excellent is the helper.
Surah 22, Ayah 78
The point is, Anbiya masoom thy, unho ne apni trf se kch nae kiya, chahey wo aik saal k thy ya 1000 saal k, unki tabiyat pedaish se hi nubawwat k darjey ki thi, so he (ﷺ) was a practicing Muslim Prophet even before nuzool of wahi.
For reference, we can see Eisa's :Allaih: case....
So she pointed to him. They said, "How can we speak to one who is in the cradle a child?"
[Eisa] said, "Indeed, I am the servant of Allah . He has given me the Scripture and made me a prophet.
Surah Maryam, Ayat 29-30**
Hope this helps!
