Re: Was Khilafat e Rashida an ideal period in Muslim History?
There was no system during khilafat e rashida. Every khalifa became khalifa in a different way.
But regardless, even if there was any system, it would be unsuitable for today. In those times there was no communication and it was easy to pick a khalifa without taking into account the will of entire populace. Today everyone’s voice can be heard. This is only possible with democracy.
I would say that if Islam had come in 21st century, it would have chosen some form of democracy as its system.
Our scholars want to concentrate on non-issues to keep us busy. If they really are sincere in improving the life of our people then they should be concentrating on education (science subjects, not just fiqh, mantaq, and falsafa), on economy, and on human rights.
