suroor, they were his idols. Some say his father was the custodian while others say his uncle. In other traditions, his family used to carve them out. It also needs to be noticed that he didn't destroy some other tribes idols but his own. Nor he went on an idol destroying mission across the world known to him.
Also, none of the traditions say anything about the Holy Prophet (saw) destroying idols outside the khana kabba.
