Re: Was Iqbal pro sufism?
Don’t you think that following basics of a religion is in itself a taqleed? If Sufi’s peeri mureedi is a jamood (freezing point of thoughts), then Mulla also failed to follow Ijtihad (struggle to accommodate in new world) and Iqbal equally condemns Mulla as well…
Alfaz-o-Maani Mein Tafawat Nahin Lekin
Mullah Ki Azan Aur, Mujahid Ki Azan Aur
Parwaz Hai Dono Ki Issi Aik Faza Mein
Kargas Ka Jahan Aur Hai, Shaheen Ka Jahan Aur
I think Mujahid was not meant only for fighters but also for those who do struggle to make this world better place. Islam’s struggle is for establishment of Adl ‘A society where justice prevail’.
As is the verse of Surh e Hadeed:
We have already sent Our messengers with clear evidences and sent down with them the Scripture and the balance that the people may maintain [their affairs] in justice. And We sent down iron, wherein is great military might and benefits for the people, and so that Allah may make evident those who support Him and His messengers unseen. Indeed, Allah is Powerful and Exalted in Might.
