I know I know a lot has been already said, written, and spoke about Greg Chapell. From numerous threads to speeches in Indian Pariliament. But I just want to vent out my frustration here.
This is what I think happened. Chappel realized soon after getting the job that he has very little influence over BCCI or the Selection Committee. He did not want to waste his energies on these two bodies which is full of morons. So, he decided to do his experiments with the Squad of Sixteen that he got from the selection committee.
Needless to say all of his stupid experiments have failed. A batting lineup that includes Sachin, Sehwag and Dravid does NOT need a Pathan at number 3. He ruined his mental psychy and hunger that a attack bowler needs.
He also screwed up with Kaif who is a genuine number 6 in any fomr of the game. Kaif will always flop in the top order.
He got rid of Sourav because Ganguly is a strong headed person. Dravid on the other hand may be a WALL but he is very soft as a person. Easy to manipulate. Perfect for Chapells experiments.
Unless Indian cricket get rid of this guy ASAP, there is no hope.

I think you guys are giving too much credit to Chappell (like those people in the Parliament). Firstly, team selection and batting order is decided more by the captain than the coach. Secondly, what can the coach do if players can't perform. The key reasons for India flopping lately is poor batting from the top order / middle order (and not the fact that Pathan was sent up the order). Key people who have done poorly are Sehwag, Tendulkar, Kaif, and Raina. There was no experiments done with them. Sehwag/Tendular are out of form, while Kaif is not a batsman who can play well abroad. I think the real reason for India's dimal performance is lack of good demestic cricket infrastructure and poor batting wickets. They need to build more pitches like Mohali in domestic cricket, if they want quality batsmen who can play swing/bounce.
As far as the parliament is concerned, the less said the better. They should realize that their main job is to create policies that alleviate poverty and provide healthcare and not discussing the performance of Indian cricket team.
^O well, I still enjoy looking at Chappells disappointment when India's losing, more so because of my hatred for him and less so with India being our sworn enemy of course...lol...not to mention I like South Africa.
This is coming from a country which generates 75% of world cricket’s revenue and that are spending most money on the academies, clinics, expert’s workshops, foriegn ‘volunteers’ and coaches. As for the batting wickets, Gawasker, Tendz and Dravid were born in Perth, Durban and Melbourne respectively. The Rs. 45 corer Dhoni is genetically produced brown Glichrist.

I will still blame lack of meat in the food for scarcity of fast bowlers, that will contribute to lack of quality batsmen to handle fast bowlers, since they don't experience fast bowlers in domestic cricket.

Chappel is being made a convenient scape-goat.
I think India deserves a pot-bellied desi Coach with half-a-brain like - Madan Lal, Gaekwad, Kapil Dev and such.

Having a home coach would make no difference whatsoever. The bottom line is India has never had in their history, do not have and will never have world-class pacers so crucial to winning test matches abroad. That's the main reason why India have such a dismal away one-day and test record. They will go on producing good batsmen but they will always struggle to produce genuine world class fast bowlers. They will always have a popgun seam attack.
I am NOT advocating for a home coach. But please get rid of Chappell for Indian cricket sake. He has done enough damage and stop him before it's too late.
This is part of a big anglosaxon conspiracy. India was becoming a huge cricket power with the likes of Irfan Pathan a.k.a Wasim Akram, Zaheer Khan a.k.a John Snow, Shreesanth a.k.a Sir Richard Hadlee. So, the ICC being a mostly anglosexy they instilled a mole in GC in India. He changed Pathan into a medicor top order batsman, Jaheer into a pedestrian pace tosser and Shreesanth has been dispatched to madras to sell women saarees. The challenge no longer exists.
I think India should employ the likes of Javed Miandad and Sarfraz nawaz as their next coach and bring the true desi in them back.
