Yash Chopra’s next in full swing
By IndiaFM News Bureau, March 12th, 2004 - 1300 hrs IST
Chopra chooses the current favorite India - Pakistan theme as the base of his movie. However this one seems to be a genuine effort to cement the Indo-Pak relations further, which have been on an upswing in the recent times. The movie talks about the trauma of partition. In true Yashraj tradition, it’s an emotional love story.
Recently the opening sequence of the film was shot at Asia’s biggest wetland, the convergence of Ravi and the Beas, near the Ishar Dham Nanaksar Gurdwara at Amritsar. Yash Chopra along with his nearly 100-member team, which included fashion designer Manish Malhotra (who is also assisting him on this film) and ace cameraman Anil Mehta picturized the scene on Shahrukh Khan and Rani Mukherjee. The scene illustrated a Pakistani girl who comes to India after the recommencement of the Samjhauta Express to immerse the ashes of her forefathers. Preity plays the Pakistani girl and Shahrukh meets him in the course.
**In Tere Pyar Mein, the leading lady Zara Sheikh playing the character of an Indian Sikh girl comes to Pakistan from India to perform her Sikh Pilgrimage…her dad visits his ancestral haveli in Lahore just like they do in that retarded Veer whatever… **
Of what little the director was ready to divulge on the project, Shahrukh rescues Preity from an accident and subsequently befriends and takes her around a trip to Punjab.
**In tere Pyar Mein, Shaan [playing the Pakistani] rescues Zara from a fire accident, befriends her and yep, when he goes to India to meet her, they go around the whole place! **
But eventually, Preity has to return with her fiancée, Manoj Bajpai, to Pakistan. Does that sound somewhat like Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge?
**NO…it sounds a lot like Tere Pyar Mein! Where Zara’s to-be-fiance is the villainish army guy in Kashmir…wonder if they r gonna make this guy in the Chopra movie a Pakistani army guy? Zara has to return to India after performing the Sikh rituals. **
Well we are keeping our fingers crossed and eagerly awaiting for the film!
**You bet!
Guess what? Nothing succeeds like success, and Tere Pyar Mein is now being ripped off in Indy-land so the makers might just make a few bucks off what is infact a PLAGIARISED theme! As if this is the first time the indies r doin it…!**
By the way…bollybuster seems a more appropriate nick ![]()
