War in the Quran

We always have topics about what Islam says about war and so on, and I just found this a very interesting read.

…God is All-Gentle, Most Merciful to mankind. (Qur’an, 2:143)

According to the Qur’an, war represents an “unwanted obligation” which has to be carried out with strict observance of particular humane and moral guidelines and which must not be resorted to except when it is absolutely inevitable.

In one Qur’anic verse, it is explained that those who start wars are the disbelievers and that God does not approve of wars:

…Each time they kindle the fire of war, God extinguishes it. They rush about the earth corrupting it. God does not love corrupters. (Qur’an, 5:64)

In the case of a conflict, before engaging in a war, believers must wait until fighting becomes compulsory. Believers are allowed to fight only when the other party attacks and no other alternative except war remains:

But if they cease (fighting), God is Ever-Forgiving, Most Merciful. (Qur’an, 2:192)

A closer examination of the Prophet Muhammad’s life reveals that war was a method resorted for defensive purposes only in unavoidable situations.

ALLAh has revealed 452 ayahs directly or indirectly related to jihad, mainly delaing with jihad bil qitaal / jihad bis saif .....however jihad / qital is not intended in my opinion as a first choice ...

If Im ever elected as their president I will answer to your question. Not everyone has such a sensible brain as myself.

On a more serious note, I wanted to clarify what usually seems to be a misunderstanding.

Re: War in the Quran

I think this is a good thread and should be sent to all those terrorists, I mean, jihadis who are killing innocents from Philippines to the US. Great Idea MQ. May you be the next khalifah. :k:

Re: War in the Quran

^ why do you assume that ONLY Muslims are terrorist? I say an eye for an eye always.

Re: War in the Quran

Well I am just going by numbers…the filipinos, INdians, ISraelis, russians, americans, spaniards, etc etc..can’t all be wrong.

It is not muslims btw, it is the jihadi aholes.

Re: War in the Quran

First of all they are called "Mujahideen", and its not like they go off killing everything and everyone in site, they are fighting for THEIR home, their land, and they have ever right to. So if you want to call anyone an ahole just look to your list:

"filipinos, INdians, ISraelis, russians, americans, spaniards, etc etc"

Re: War in the Quran

An eye for an eye leaves everybody blind and to say everyone who calls them Mujahideen are legitmate freedom fighters is dishonest. It demeans the term.

Re: War in the Quran

what "their" land? everywhere muslims are in a sizeable minority there are problems. Fact is when muslims are rulers..it is ok...minorities should be model citizens..pay tax for their protection (wah..what logic) but when they are not..let's bomb a few buses and pizza parlours and we need our land bullsiht starts. Tell me why do muslims need a separate land in places they are a minority? Maybe Egypt should be divided and some given to the copts, Syria/lebanon to the chiristians etc etc.. I don;t see parsis asking for their "own" land in Iran..they were virtually wiped off by the islamic hordes. that is just one example.

Re: War in the Quran

Only an Indian would quote from an Indian.

Re: War in the Quran

and we will continue to bomb buses and pizza parlours and etc…

Re: War in the Quran

^ and you will continue to get siht from the rest of the world. :k:
