I think he is having a positive influence on bowling, but i dont know why none of them have developed the swinging yorker that was 2W’s trademark.
Re: Waqar’s Influence On Bowlers
There should not be any influence from the master on his pupils…rather guidance…btw…I think…Aqib Javed is responsible for the bowling coaching and advices…
PS: As Waqar Younis has been a good bowler…so it will be better for Pakistan squad to get some good batting coach… ![]()
Re: Waqar's Influence On Bowlers
A coach is more of a strategist these days. The players should have their technique sorted out much earlier in their careers...hence the need for a better infrastructure at grassroot and domestic level.
Re: Waqar's Influence On Bowlers
One reason is that neither Aamir or Gul, or other thus far have the pace of Waqar when he was in his prime. His in swinging yorker that would reverse swing-in very late, needed a lot of pace and accuracy...Wasim was a master on his own with a God gifted talent and it will take Aamir a long time to mimic his style thoroughly, may be never 100%..

Welcome back!!! It is not all just about pace. Aamir infact has been clocked around 90 to 91mph in this series. Reverse Swing is also about bowling action

You need a slingy or whippy (Waqar, Imran) action to be able to bowl reverse swing. Waqar was the best exponent of reverse swing. Even Wasim's inswinging yorkers did not deviate as much as Waqar or Imran's. Imran's in-dipper was lethal too
Re: Waqar's Influence On Bowlers
Thats probaby right, Aamir does not have that whippy action, waqar had.
Re: Waqar's Influence On Bowlers
I think he is having a positive influence on bowling,
And where is the 'sound proof' of this statement?
Re: Waqar's Influence On Bowlers
Pak fast bowling improved significantly last time Waqar was coach as well (under Bob as head coach). I remember Rana Naved really lifted his game. Gul also improved quite a bit. the extras went to almost nil.
good to see Waqar continue the good work with our fasties. Aamer could not ask for a better mentor than the great Waqar Younis. hopefully Waqar will do to Aamer what Imran did to Wasim and Waqar.
