Old timers know i am a huge fan of waqar younis…always rate him the best bowler pak ever produced. yes i rate him above wasim akram and imran khan as a fast bowler.
but…i must say, he has failed as a coach and he should leave. understood this team is a pathetic team and hard to get results from these dumb players led by pathetic skippers afridi and azhar ali
but
waqar has failed to inspire the team and there has been no strategy…hell, even bowlers are not showing any improvement and we have now hired azhar mahmood as bowling coach…what? a bowling coach under great waqar younis? what will azhar teach them that waqar younis cannot teach?
so yes, waqar shd leave, do you guys agree?
if so, who should be our next coach? any suggestions?
Waqar doesnt justify head coach position. He should be autonomous bowling coach.
For Azhar Mehmood, I think they are hire him because he has experienced playing almost every modern T20 league. Bowlers greater pressure in T20 than in ODIs or Test. He might know better how to plot bowling in T20.
Waqar was a selffish player and team mate. Yes he had great talent and he did great but he is not the one who can unite or lead. He revolted agaisnt Wasim Akram in 1990s when Pakistan team was at its peak. He has been tested enough, its time to part ways. Wasim Akram if open to Coaching has the right mindset to be head coach.

Agreed, he is not a successful coach at all. But at this stage he shouldnt be let go. There is WC and then there is England tour. The new coach wont do good either.
But PCB should start looking for a coach now.
The good aspect of Waqar is that he is a disciplined mentor. If we go back and look at the testimonies of spot-fixing scandal, each player said one thing. i.e. Waqar was really strict on everything and thats what they told the bookie that it'll not be easy for them to deliver no-ball.
Worst aspect of his is the personal likings/dislikings as we can see how he handled Sarfraz and others in WC last year. Overall I think its time for him to leave

Eng tour will be good for "new" coach. Waqar should be out alongwith Afridi (whatever happens in WC is irrelevant).

He is strict, but that does not mean he is able to make good squad/playing XI selections, groom new player, planning against an opponent etc.... don't forget his idiotic statement about Sarfaraz in WC.
