Waqar bashing in full swing in the media. As an aside, the way young bowlers are playing in the WC, was it possible without Waqar being behind it? slow bouncers, use of wrist, seam bowling, controlled and used lengths well
Give him some credit…which team has defended 200 score so far? and we have done it twice.
Since Media does not have anything else, so they have to bash or promote some one... It is World Cup, and who is best to bash.. yes it is Coach of the team!!!
I don’t believe in what is floating around in social media but he should be criticized for his awful selection (I read in some news article that he is the final authority in tour selection) . He has guts to come out and tell media that “Sarfarz does not have technique”. So during competition you are saying about one of your players, in public that he does not have technique…wow what a confidence boaster for that player. There is nothing wrong in accepting in front of same media that he might have made mistake in judging sarfaraz or to that matter in selection of playing XI.
Just because you are a hero or doing good job in one department does not make you immune to criticism, in fact that exactly is the problem with Pakistan. We have too many holy cows.
Having said that all, there is no denying that he was a great bowler and is transferring great knowledge and experience to new breed of Pakistani bowlers and we can see that in performance of Pakistani fast battery. :k:
He should pick the job he is best suited for, rather PCB should've selected him for bowling-coach-only instead of making him a 'full' coach. He contributed to bowling side well but look at awful batting line up, neglecting talent of Azhar Ali, Fawad Alam then persisting with a ghatya opener and not admitting mistake.
He is the CHIEF coach and FINAL SAY in tour selection committee and IF (big IF) he is not a batting coach and has nothing to do with batting, he has no business commenting about batting abilities of one of his players in public.
and that is not equal to “not having faith” in fact that totally opposite I guess. He does have faith in them and thats why he is asking them to deliver.

Waqar certainly gets credit for the improvement in bowling
but
He is also partially if not solely responsible for the bad decision to not play Sarfraz in the earlier games (despite repeated woeful batting by YK, NJ and below-par keeping by UA) as I believe the playing XI for each WC game was jointly decided by Waqar himself, Moin (now Cheema) and Misbah
It was a bad judgement call by all three. Giving NJ a third chance after his woeful displays in the first two games was inexcusable (he got out in the same pathetic fashion on all 3 occasions!!) and had it not been for public and media pressure the stubborn trio might have even persisted with NJ against SA!
So while you deserve praise for your good performances as coach you should also be ready to cop the flak if you make bad judgments or decisions
