Waqar Younis Commentary:

Re: Waqar Younis Commentary:

My younger brother was cracking up the other day listening to some of the comments that were being made by Zaheer and Mushtaq. They're just plain BAD!

It's so sad and embarrasing to know that this is what Pakistan has to offer even when telecasting matches to an international audience. Forget about international audience, they're not acceptable even if the matches are only being telecasted in Pakistan.

Re: Waqar Younis Commentary:

Zaheer Abbas writes good english (for DAWN) but speaks badly. Above and beyond language, its important to make sense. Sometimes what they say in urdu, does not make sense either. Like if u watch interviews of players like Afridi, Inzi etc. It seems they are not sure what they want to say. In my opinion most people in Pak have this issue. They find it easier to utter someone else's words, rather than to express their own feelings, be it any language.

Re: Waqar Younis Commentary:

I agree with Rawbutt. Most Pakistanis are abnormal and got educated in rattay maar environment. There are very few Pakistanis who can speak their mind in a coherent manner, no matter what the language is. This is a direct result of education based on memorization. We rarely understood the reasoning behind subjects but just wanted to copy and paste to get 100% marks.

Re: Waqar Younis Commentary:

Among the Pak players who can speak coherently, I would rate Younis Khan, Shoaib Akhtar, Afridi, Malik and Kaneria as better than others.

Younis Khan is quite good in Urdu, Shoaib Akhtar is decent in both Urdu and English, Afridi is alright in Urdu, Malik is halfway decent in Urdu but could need improvement. Kaneria is okay in English, and probably Urdu too. Salman Butt I'd assume is good in both Urdu and English, but he'd have to be a permanent member of the side.

Re: Waqar Younis Commentary:

Wasn’t it Kaneria who when asked a question by a Journalist said Hotels in Pakistan burned down a lot or something prompting that the entire team will speak Urdu during the 2007 World Cup ? :omg:

Re: Waqar Younis Commentary:

what I don't understand is why are Pakistani players so bad in speaking English?

Even the Sri Lankan and Bangladeshis speak better English than Pakistanis

Re: Waqar Younis Commentary:

*Gizzy, you got all of these from Pakpassion. Atleast give some credit!

He is much better than Zaheer and Mushy on the mic, but still pretty damn hilarious.*

Re: Waqar Younis Commentary:

^I read the whole thread on PakPassion; just couldn’t stop laughing :rotfl:
