But that’s a slippery slope and sets the kind of precedent where anyone with connections will have an easy time convincing the Trainee that he/she has practiced enough to be able to fly hundreds of people, thousands of miles each way.

Qualifications do matter when it comes to professions where peoples’ lives are at risk, because the paying public deserves the best for their money.

Alternatively to give the person in question benefit of doubt, since the person in question is an expert practically already, it should be easy for him to obtain a degree academically because he will have the working background to ace the assignments and/or exams and have an accredited degree to back up his Academia.

I agree. it will set a wrong precedent and therefore he shd be appropriately punished.
