so one viewpoint is that If he has done well flying for PIA and is well versed in his profession, then there is no reason to disqualify him. When people are trained for such flights they are taught technical knowledge not the one where one can get a private bachelor degree sitting at home…People learn all these things at flying school not in Allama Iqbal Open University…
the other viewpoint is PIA management put peoples lives at risk through substandard appointment. He lied and shd be punished. PERIOD
Re: Waqar Younis brother flying PIA’s Boeing 777 on fake degree
But that's a slippery slope and sets the kind of precedent where anyone with connections will have an easy time convincing the Trainee that he/she has practiced enough to be able to fly hundreds of people, thousands of miles each way.
Qualifications do matter when it comes to professions where peoples' lives are at risk, because the paying public deserves the best for their money.
Alternatively to give the person in question benefit of doubt, since the person in question is an expert practically already, it should be easy for him to obtain a degree academically because he will have the working background to ace the assignments and/or exams and have an accredited degree to back up his Academia.

I agree. it will set a wrong precedent and therefore he shd be appropriately punished.
Re: Waqar Younis brother flying PIA’s Boeing 777 on fake degree
What's with the obsession with degrees in Pakistan? He should have gotten an aviation diploma without which the appointment should not have happened. If he faked his aviation qualifications, then both him and the people responsible for appointing him should be fired.
I just don't get this obsession with degrees where the degree could be in a totally unrelated field, yet is a requirement.
Re: Waqar Younis brother flying PIA’s Boeing 777 on fake degree
yaar, aap log ek pilot ki shikayat kar rahay hayn jo ziyada se ziyada 200-300 families of affect kar sakta hay (tha), jab ek court-admitted-mentally-incapable fake degree ke saath pooray mulk ka sarbrah raha 5 saal to ye to bechara hay
Re: Waqar Younis brother flying PIA’s Boeing 777 on fake degree
Its not the matter of if he can fly the plane safely without degree or not but its the matter of was having a degree a pre-qualification for the post? If yes then he LIED to get the job. In fact creating and using fake documents is a CRIME
He should be fired and should be asked to payback the money he robbed PIA off.
Re: Waqar Younis brother flying PIA’s Boeing 777 on fake degree
What is more wrong here, being brother of Waqat Younis or Flying Plane on fake credentials (although i doubt they are fake, flying plane is not for any tom dick and harry)
Re: Waqar Younis brother flying PIA’s Boeing 777 on fake degree
I wonder why criminals are being supported by people like you? He should not only be fired but put in jail for fraud committed by him. I don’t know when Pakistani realized what is right and what is wrong.

Most likely he used the privileged of being WY's bro to get and/or stay on the job even after it was disclosed that he lied and provided fake document.
Re: Waqar Younis brother flying PIA’s Boeing 777 on fake degree
Does anyone know what the requirements for this position are in PIA?
Turns out, in general someone can get a private license and as long as they have the proper certifications they can apply for a similar job. Does PIA have a degree-specific requirement? The issue still stands as D6C mentioned up there that if the stacked resume was used to be considered for the job based on the degree listed, then it disqualifies the person and can/should result in termination.

May be, but i don't think that Waqar Younis have that much influence in Pakistani Administration... anyway, what his brother did was wrong and guy interviewed him was faulty as well.
Having said that, i would say, flying plane is not any body's job, unless somebody is a hero in a movie, he won't be able to land and takeoff these commercial flights at different international airports... i believe there is more to it... lets wait and see
