So I’m a 23 year old girl/woman who’s not getting married anytime soon thus not having children any time soon either. Recently I have heard of a lot of women who married late and they have had difficulty getting pregnant, some have not been able to yet and this got me thinking/worrying a bit. I do, inshaAllah, want to have kids some day, but because of some circumstances I am not planning to just yet.
My question is, how can I ensure a pregnancy when time comes? Like I know that being overall healthy and excersize is important, but are there anything else that I should be aware of for ensuring a pregnancy? Of course, in the end it’s all up to Allah, but still I want to be proactive and prepare my body or just be proactive about it now.
Other than leading a healthy lifestyle which is always good, there’s really no way of “ensuring” a problem free pregnancy in the future. There’s no preventative / or proactive methods that ensure a pregnancy. Fertility peaks in the twenties but it can’t “ensure” anything. People have endometriosis in the their 20s, huge fibroids, weak cervix, congenital problems, same stuff that women in their 30s also can have, except women in their 30s have a bit older eggs and hence chances of chromosomal abnormality such as down’s is higher. Problems can be with men too.
While there are many factors that can affect fertility, the most significant is often the female partner’s age. At 30, a fertile woman’s chances of conceiving each month are approximately 20%. By 40, it drops to 5%. Over a one-year period, a woman in her 20s has a 75% to 90% chance of conceiving. Over that same time period, a woman 40 or older has a less than 50% chance.
Is it true that taking birth control for a really long time can also screw up your system and make you less likely to concieve even when you stop taking it? obv most unmarried women don’t take BCP but some do for acne, or weight, or other issues so I thought i’d ask.
^ nope. there isn’t a connection between fertility issues and BCP even though it might seem like that sometimes. you gotta remember, you get ONE egg for ONE 24-hour period a month. getting pregnant ain’t easy by any means for most of us.
