Re: want some info about soft ware engineering
Difference between CS and S/W Engineering… the answer isn’t black-or-white… this coming from someone who has a B.Sc. Honors in Comp Sci with a specialization in Software Engineering.
Universities usually offer S/W Eng. either as a concentration within a CS program (as in my case) or some Universities offer a standalone S/W Eng. major.
No matter which model is used, you’re probably going to take a common core of foundational courses in Computer Science - including CS theory, linear algebra, discrete math, as well as applied programming courses.
Beyond the common core, a S/W Eng. concentration also includes courses such as software quality assurance, systems analysis & design etc.
On the other hand, the senior level courses in a CS concentration may include advanced algorithms, combinatorics, advanced data structures etc.
These days, many universities offer a variety of concentrations/pathways under the umbrella of computer science… including software engineering, information management, information systems, computation theory, web technologies, human-computer interaction etc.
Regardless of the concentration, a CS-related undergraduate degree is in high demand around the globe. Being in academia, I can tell you that there’s a dearth of graduates from CS programs all around the world and if you have the aptitude for mathematics and programming, and are willing to persevere through a challenging program, you’re all set for a prosperous career! :k:
