How do you people keep your walls clean? Wherever I’ve lived, I’ve noticed that freshly-painted walls there start turning grey within a few months and black marks start showing up on the walls :S Is there some sort of cleaning routine you have to follow to keep the walls clean or are you supposed to repaint them every 3 months?

where are you? here, we have negligible amount of dust in the air...almost nil...so, we do NOT clean walls parse, but we do paint them every couple of years. make sure your dryer's exhaust is working fine. if the vent is clogged from outside, it may not vent properly hence blowing the lint back into the house. check ur dryer vent located outside ur house.

The walls in our apartment in Canada have turned grey :/ There isn't any dryer in the apartment so I don't know why the walls are getting dirty. I've read that you're supposed to dust them regularly but I'm not sure how often.

i dunno...there shouldn't be that much dust around. is your stove exhaust clogged btw?

could be mold, or moisture damage in the walls. I think you should ask maintenance to check, do other apts have the same problem?

I agree you should ask maintenance to check it because I live in Canada as well and I've never had that problem.

If dusting does not help then paint the wall over. I do spot painting when we have a party or some important guest is going to visit us , that way the walls are always spot free and look clean.
