WallPaper

WHY?
now you’ve scared me!

I think it’ll look artsy. nahee?

And the stencils give you so much more freedom to play with patterns.
Maybe I’ll try a small wall in my room first?

Re: WallPaper

koi artsy wartsy nahin- stencils are horrible, muniya. please don't go there!

Re: WallPaper

we’ve wallpaper in our apartment and we renewed it abt 2/3 yrs ago. And now it looks so horrible! My siblings used to rip them off :bummer: So next time we will go for paint instead.

Re: WallPaper

^ bad siblings! i hope you told them off!

Re: WallPaper

SGC, why stencils are horrible?

Re: WallPaper

most of them are horrendously ugly, thats why.
and the overall look is really dated, imho.

muniya, how about wall decals? those stick on and are easy to remove and there are a ton of ways you can use them.
they’re not just for kids rooms either!

Re: WallPaper

Since you have bare white walls, i definitely think you should have one wall with bright patterned wallpaper with, so as to create an "accent wall" effect.... And it won't be OTT cos it's only one wall :)

Brocade/damask/modern flowery print would look very chic. and if you pick a wallpaper with shades of plum in it, it'll tie in with the rest of your room theme...

PS: I've just realise that you guys stateside have a totally different outlook to interior design....

Re: WallPaper

muniya, i think if you choose a nice matte plum, the decal would look fabulous. look for a plum with a grey base- it’ll be muted just enough. depending on how large the wall is, you might want to go for something larger though to give it presence, which it will need on a plum wall.
there is inspiration here in pictures- Search | Apartment Therapy

maroush- please expand on the design differences between here and where you are. i’d love to know more!

Re: WallPaper

I think it'll be gaudy - I'm going to stick to a deeppppp beige

Re: WallPaper

BORING! :stuck_out_tongue:
come on, be adventurous. if you want to do beige, how about taking it one step further into a very polished dark brown? it would look very crisp on just one wall.

I'm sooooo bad at this stuff. When I have a house someday I'm gonna hire an interior designer cuz alone I can't be trusted. :)

One small thought, however. If your room is small or dark, be careful about using wallpaper or paint that it too dark cuz it will make the room seem even more so. Also, think about whether painting or papering only one or two sides of the room might work in your space. In my current apartment I painted a couple of walls (in the living room, terracotta, and in the bedroom, sage green), but I only painted one long wall in each room and left the rest eggshell color. Maybe it sounds weird, but it ended up looking great! It added a nice splash of color without totally 'enclosing' the space as too much color or pattern can sometimes do.

Re: WallPaper

^ that sounds fabulous, nyc_gori!
another friend of mine has done the same kind of color blocking using muted grey and green against the white in her apartment and its very chic.

Re: WallPaper

NOT BORRRINNG :(

yaar brown? and beige?! thora cliche nahee ho ga?

i swear I just need to take the plunge already!!1

Re: WallPaper

you're the one who vetoed plum!
i had a plum wall- it was beautiful and soothing.
at least try it! you can always paint over, u know? don't even need primer these days since the paint is so good!
