Of Ahmadinejad, Wallace said, “He’s an impressive fellow, this guy. He really is. He’s obviously smart as hell.”

Wallace said he was surprised to find that the Iranian president was still a college professor who taught a graduate-level course.

“You’ll find him an interesting man,” he said. “I expected more of a firebrand. I don’t think he has the slightest doubt about how he feels … about the American administration and the Zionist state. He comes across as more rational than I had expected.”

I caught it. It was pretty tame. Wallace kept trying to get Ahmadinejad to say repeat some of his more provocative statements, but he avoided direct answers.

They showed it on BBC newsnight, however the interview came across as quiet rough, with Wallace 'trying' to be the tough man but came across as arrogant and condescending..or may he is i dont know. despite that the president kept his cool and answered all the questions calmly.

yeah i saw parts of it and I do feel that wallace went overboard, as a amtter of fact if someone talked to me like that, I would have been offended. Whatever my views on the Iranian president may be, he did not take he bait, kept his compusyre in in general made his case well. I too was surprised

I saw some of the interview and if it was a boxing match President Ahmadinejad won in a blow out. Wallace did not ask any relevant questions in regards to the world rather kept on asking does he hate Israel. Did he say that? It was very below par performance by Wallace. He always tried to put him on spotlight and Ahmadinejad kept the focus on U.S and Bush. There was nothing to remember from that interview. I mean if Wallace asked him about Darfur, Islamic law in Iran, the political decent and elections, it would have been interesting. It would shed some light on his political ambitions and him as a leader of Iran.

Mike Wallace is quite old, in his eighties I think and he has been interviewing like this for many many years. He was never an actor. I thought the president of Iran was wonderful and wish we had politicians in this country who spoke the way he does. He seemed full of clarity and wisdom.

Presidnet Ahmadinejad was right. Mike Wallace did not take the interview as an journilist. He was acting as a representative of US and Israel.

For many years, Mike Wallace has been visited my living room interviewing actors, politicians, writors, journalists, diplomats and heads of state. AS a patriotic American I watched in disbelief. Wallace seemed bound and determined to make a fool of President Ahmadinejah who turned the tables on WAllace and was gracious, polite, sure of himself, comfortable…If the plan was to “push” him into a corner and act like a “madman” as we have been told he is, sorry, the crazy man was Wallace. So , true American diplomates take these phonies in our administration, shake them and show what true diplomacy can bear. 27 years we have had no diplomatic talks with Iran.And that fosters peace??? Not hardly.Enough death for elections and tough “Long Forgotten” Wyoming discussions. But,ah, we have Cheney who misses shooting a buddy in the face.Real Wyomingites know how to shoot a gun for game (not Cheney), America , we must awaken!!!

Anybody else notice the US media blackout of this important event? Even the big bloggers seem to be afraid to talk about it today. They seem to want to pretend it didn’t happen. But those millions of us that have seen the interview will never buy the lie that the Iranian President is “a lunatic” when it is clear that he is educated, rational and is attempting to find solutions to the problems in his region. Solutions that do not require bombs. Bush is lying about this guy and millions of us know it now.

I have read the actual text of his speech about Israel and the map. He has been misquoted and the lie has been repeated over and over …“kinda catapulting the propaganda” to quote Bush.

And mike wallace epitomized the arrogance ahmedinejad spoke of. Others have mentioned the face gestures and rude behaviour, but I cant believe he had the lack of grace to say that none of the President’s tasks on his schedule could be as important as answering more questions.
