Well I don’t know if this is the right place to post this thread, moderators please move it to the right place if needed.
My bathroom has sky blue sink n commode, while floor is sky blue with a hint of bluish grey color. The walls are painted white but i want to bring a dramatic effect so want some change, the problem is the bathroom is very small. I need to get some cabinets for it so suggest me colors for them also.
I am painting the whole house white except for my daughter's room, kitchen my bedroom n the bathroom. I have a love for dark colors but as bathroom is too small i am keeping it away. I am thinking about either sandy beige color or if darker then grayish teal. At this point I am not changing sink n commode but I really don't like them much
hmmm why don't you do wainscoting in white, and then since that is white you can do the wall colour in a darker tone.
second thing you can do is go with a slightly darker colour on the wall, and do the cabinets in a dark colour, wenge/chocolate/espresso or dark stained maple if you don't want to go as dark as an espresso colour.
don't think you just cabinets or wallcolour to play with, changing light fixtures, a bath rug etc can make a big difference as well. you can bring darker colour in with the rug, window treatments (some great dark faux wood blinds), even swapping out the toilet seat can help. shower curtains (if you have a tub). I redid my bathroom myself from the generic builders bath, focusing on paint and cabinets. the tiles are still not changed and is a project that keeps getting delayed. let me see if i can find a pic, I had posted some earlier here.
i forgot to add, maybe go for some texture and tint, lighter base paint with a darker tint, it gets some of the dark in there without making the whole paint a flat dark paint
I am liking the idea of adding some texture to the walls n getting darker cabinets, but as this is my first experience so would appreciate if pictures are shared for help. Thanks a lot.
I can't find the pics I posted on GS, so will have to find them and post them again, sadly we don't have a before pic of the bathroom, but I can explain what it looked like before.
traveling for work like crazy for the next 8 days, so it may be a little delayed.
I love the tips that X2 has shared ... moreover .. instead of adding a dark shade to the walls ... why dont you look for a painting or some kind of wall hanging ... and then match the towels and hand towels and the toilet set ( the soap dish, the soap dispenser and the cream dispenser )
Look for a similar theme flowers that you can keep in a corner ...
In my guest bathroom .. its white all over and creame colored floor tiles ... to bring in color , I chose a brownish white shower curtain , similar style bath towel ... and then a red rug and red flowers and red and brown hand towels ...
I have another idea but my husband think its too crazy. i am thinking of painting the floor tiles, I asked the home depot people they said you just need to prime it and then paint it.
Then will paintthe walls and add some texture to them. I will change the commode seat to some contrasting color. CB actually i don't have space for wall hangings, there are only open shelves that i wanted to previously get covered but now i might not go for that n put some decoration pieces on them.
Mano04 have you considered the color Aqua for your walls? Since your bathroom suite is a darker blue, it will give it a fresh and airy feel I think. I will try and upload some pictures tomorrow morning.
