WALIMA DRESS

AOA everyone, My cozin is getting married soon and we are trying to decide about Walima dress ,She is going for maroon and emerald green gharara with gold and pearl work on it for barat… now any sugestions regarding color for Walima dress, she wants a lehanga but in one color only and in some dark color as she thinks she would look BIG in any light color (she has a broad structure thats why)… so any sugestions??? wat about white do you ppl think slightly broad figured ppl look good in white??? thnks in anticipation…

Re: WALIMA DRESS

if she wants a light color, then definitely don't suggest white! dark colors make you look slimmer and sounds like she'd be happier in those- what about plum? or turqoise?

Re: WALIMA DRESS

Wont her in laws deciding for the walima dress? Not too sure what colours are in atm but im sure dark colours make u look slim..

deep purples, deep emerald greens or deep navy blue with gold work would look lovely (basically jewel tones). charcoal is not something you see often so that would be really cool or a deep copper color. however if she has broad shoulders umm her dupatta on her head will cover that.

i think it's nice to wear a lighter color on the valima...

I think a charcoal would be lovely, the kaam could be in vivid jewel tones. Plum would be a lovely option as well.

Re: WALIMA DRESS

i'm broad framed myself so know how difficult it can be to find flattering shapes...avoiding too much volume or tooooo much unneccessary kaam can do wonders for a wider frame

Re: WALIMA DRESS

midnight bluee...the darkest blue

hi

i am getting married this summer and me and my fiancee have decided the i am going to wear a dark pink magenta with a pale blue [it will be a fishtail contrast lengha] and gold work. i think it is a good combination and then he is wearing a matching tie with the two colours. In terms of colours i would recommend a pale nice blue that really shows up seriously well in photographas and lots of my cousins have worn it. My closest friend wore pale blue with bronze and gold work on it, she looked amazing, this was a couple of years ago. I recommed blue personally.

Re: WALIMA DRESS

if u wear any color head to toe it will slim u. and most desi clothes are only one color head to toe anyway, and anyway she has requested one color. so y don't u just ask her the color she wants?

Re: WALIMA DRESS

Well her MIL has said she can decide herslef about the walima dress becoz afterall she is going to wear it and she hasnt decided anything about the color actaully that is the problem we all (including her) are confused which color wud be teh best ,plum and gold is gud option can anyone post any pics............. :) have4 a gud day

Re: WALIMA DRESS

teal or how about really hot pink...
Emerald green would have been a lovely option for walima but shez havin that in her barat one...

Re: WALIMA DRESS

dark dark purple.. with light /baby pink dupatta... :)

Iris - there are many shades of white and I think a braoder frame can pull of an off white or even an almond color.

I would give emphasis on the material, kaam and the cut of the lehanga. The cut of the lengha can have very slimming effect

Re: WALIMA DRESS

Purple, plum, or navy?

I agree completely. I am broad-shouldered and do not have a petit build. One of my wedding dresses was a champagne color, and it was the material, cut, and fit that made it work perfectly for me. Western designers also use corsets, which, though not comfy, make a bride's figure look FABULOUS. You might want to tell your friend to consider looking into figure flattering lingerie (corset, bodysuit, etc) that will also help her look good in whatever she wears. Good underclothes make a huge difference in total look.
