walima dress dilemma

I need help and ideas deciding a walima dress for a dear friend’s brother.

They decided on a beige gold shirt and dupatta and a mint green gharara with emerald green pipings and kaam all over, etc. something in these colours:

They have to give a green emeralds studded heirloom jewellery set to the bride to wear with it. We had almost finalised the order BUT they came to know yesterday that the bride is wearing an ivory/beige shirt, a green sharara and a red dupatta with an emeralds studded jewellery set for the rukhsati :smack: she has already placed the order for the dress so no changes there but both families agreed on them changing the emeralds to rubies or garnets to go with the dupatta and pipings. So jewellery problem is solved.

NOW about the walima dress , what could be the options and styles that dont have green as a major colour used but still having it to coordinate with the jewelry ? The walima will be in the day-time and outdoors, they already had burnt orange/peach dress for the engagement so no pinks or peaches this time. The jewelry is dull antique gold so nothing with silver kaam either :bummer: they are willing for a churidar/pishwas as well so that too is an option

I was thinking light ash gray with emeralds used in dull gold kaam ? a gray like this:

what else ?

all ye mods who work for bunto in this forum, please help

:omg:

Re: walima dress dilemma

how about something like this.

Re: walima dress dilemma

this is nice but it is again a family of ivory and she has ivory shirt for the rukhsati already :(

Re: walima dress dilemma

yes but i thought as she is wearing a red dupatta so it would be more bright on barat day and red would be more pronounced colour hopefully. and this outfit is bit subtle..there are not a lot of colors which go with green i think, and she has already ruled out pink and peaches as well ;)

Re: walima dress dilemma

What about some shade of purple? I am probably just thinking out loud - haven't seen this combo in real life though.

Re: walima dress dilemma

purple sounds nice too .. maybe like this ?

Re: walima dress dilemma

I thought you mentioned emerald green and I was thinking more like lilac shade but this is a great example for starters and may be you can photoshop to see how the two shades are going to look together. (I am willing to do the photoshop stuff if you need)

Re: walima dress dilemma

simple white wth green border :hmmm:

Re: walima dress dilemma

Grey and emerald green look amazing together! There is an umer sayeed bridal in this colour combo which iman Ali modeled. I would post the pic but I’m replying from my phone.. do a quick Google search it should come up. I think dull gold kaam would look great with it

edit: here’s the pic - daastanblog.blogspot.com

Re: walima dress dilemma

Since she's wearing a lighter color for her rukhsati how about a few deeper colors for the valima? Burnt orange/garnet with emerald green?

Re: walima dress dilemma

yes marigold, that's what I am inclined to as well :) thanks for the picture

Gina, they did burnt orange with gold accents for engagement already but still a rust should look nice I guess. any pictures?

Re: walima dress dilemma

I think purple and green would work well. I can’t post a pic as am on phone, but here’s an example

Re: walima dress dilemma

I vote for the purple/violet and green combo as well. She is already doing light colors for the baraat so it would be quite different

Here is some inspiration (switch the green and purple) http://www.bargello.com/images/products/women2/2559-L-sharara-collection.jpg

Re: walima dress dilemma

now you might think me mad but I think shades of blues (majority color) … think royal blue … with hints of green will be fabulous.
think peacock …
for example in this pic … look how well the royal blues and pale blues blend with emerald.

otherwise purple and green is also great.

Re: walima dress dilemma

i love this combo!! I would say go with royal blue/shades of blue with hints of green for accent…you could even work in some purple in the kaam :hmmm:

And I absolutley love pishwaz/chooridar for a Valima dress…especially for a day function

Re: walima dress dilemma

 love these colours !!! thankssss

Re: walima dress dilemma

Did you decide on the colors proto? Fawn looks great with emerald green too, and dull golden would look nice on fawn imo...

Re: walima dress dilemma

peacock colours are gorgeous but so is the grey and emerald!
