Salaam o Alakum All,
Does anyone know of any good preferably Pakistani/Indian Live singers in the DC to NY corridor? I am trying to think of entertainment for a waleema. The crowd is moderate to somewhat conservative, but I’d like to do something tasteful but not the same speeches slide show thing. It can be boring, and people tend to get bored of speeches. Any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.

Try and get a ghazal band, they play a mix of songs punjabi, bollywood and qaawali.

or something like a tabla player/sitar player. people like those too, and its not in your face entertainment, its more of a background thing, until you let them do an actual performance.

Thanks for the suggestions, I was thinking along the same lines. I don't think an in your face dancing around performance is what the crowd would appreciate. Heh.
Any suggestions on where I can locate singers? I tried Google, didn't have much luck. Any specific names or websites of listings would be great
