I have heard that there is a Bridal Farak and Anarkali trend for the Waleema. I was wondering if anyone had more information and pictures if this trend?
I really like Kareena Kapoor’s dress in 3 Idiots, although I do think it is a lengha.
Any ideas? Pictures would be great
Re: Waleema Dress

I like the anarkali but it would be difficult to make the bride standout.
But the maxi dresses, I am not a big fan of.
Re: Waleema Dress
^ I dunno, she looks pretty bridal to me! It depends on how heavy it is, what kind of jewellery is worn with it, etc.
Maxi dresses are for tall girls, I'd think... a shorter, more petite lady might get completely overwhelmed by all that fabric/gheyr.
Re: Waleema Dress

Idk... I just feel like I wear more heavier outfits on eid and other occasions than this... and knowing the ppl invited to my wedding, everyone would be over dressed and if I wore something simple, I would look under dressed at my own wedding. She does look bridal but it's because of the tikka and the dupatta on the head. If there will be other girls in their own wedding dresses there, then she would just not standout. But I might go with this kinda look for my waalima too so I can be comfortable. I would just tweak the makeup a bit and add a jhoomer.
Re: Waleema Dress
Lots of desi brides wear lighter outfits and still stand out.At most desi weddings or even walimas brides sit on stages and even if they do mingle around, they have the duppatta on their heads. If not, then yes, there may be a concren of the bride not standing out.
Re: Waleema Dress
At the waleema isn't is more common to see brides looking a bit fresher??? Not as much weighed down by the loads of heavy jewelry, hair style is often one that is more elegant and chic.......
I think the current trend of wearing a frock or an anarkali for any big occassion is great and a nice difference from the usual lehngas, ghararas, and shararas. You can still have loads of heavy kaam on your frock or anarkali, wear the dupatta on your head, have your amazing makeup on, your matching jewelry... and be sitting on the stage next to your dulha! :D You will look extremely bridal regardless of the type of outfit.
I dont think it really matters if someone in the crowd is wearing a heavier outfit than you are.... i think there is a fine line between gaudy and classy when it comes to desi clothes and kaam. My family and I usually go for the understated look regardless of the occasion anyways. Like I already know for a fact that my bridal lehngaa is probably not going to be the heaviest one in the room... i know this because I designed it myself ha.. But I also know that I will be the one wearing red and sitting on a stage with a dupatta on her head.... there will be no mistake on who the bride is :)
