i got this in an email forward. First i thought that it was just bogus but then i followed the links, well, to say the least, i was outraged. u’ll see what i mean, if u follow the links
Dear Muslim brothers/sisters,
BE CAREFUL! Certain anti-Islam groups are trying to produce a new Qur’aan!!
Please read this e-mail and pass on. Some enemies of Islam have established
an on-line Qur’aan Surah with addition of some self-written SURAH; examples
can be seen on the web site on the Internet shown below). It’s very
dangerous for the Muslim world, especially for the newly converted Muslims
or the Muslims who don’t know FALSE and Bad material. Kindly send this
message (with the web sites shown below) to inform as many persons as you
can.
One of the sites as an example of their Qur’aan is:
(check out this one, how organized jews are against Muslim, wake up Muslims)
NOTE: especially site # 1 in sura they call it (surat Musilimoon) which is
NOT in the Holy Qur’aan. Plz forward it to all the Muslims for the sake of
security of our Imaan. Jazak Allah Khair
PS: PLZ Highlite the site 1) or 2) n paste it to the search panel and press
the go button if it doesnt open when u click it!!
salaam…
**hmm one correction in the email. Site #2 doesn’t say that these sura’s are from Quran, they apparently are answering the challenge that Quran makes
"And if you are in doubt
as to which We have revealed to Our servant,
then produce a sura like it,
and call on your helper, besides Allah,
if you are truthful. "
Sura 2:23
I am kinda double minded on these kinds of messages.
On one hand, I can see your view point, that you want to raise awareness about these websites.
On the other side, you are also contributing to spread their name, increasing their hits and their traffic and in general popularize these websites. Since almost all such sites have hit counters, so this increased traffic means more profit for them and allows them to spread their message far and wide. You are doing free publicity for them.
In general, its a better idea to contact the hosting companies which are hosting these websites, and explain to them why you feel these websites should be closed down. If at all you need to show more people writing to these host companies, then you should contact your friends and people whom you trust. Putting such messages on a public forum, just publicizes these sites more, which is counter productive for your message.
Faisal, i know wut you mean. I never do that, but this time i just had to. I dont’ even read these emails but…
well thats what i wanted to find out in the first place as to how to complain to someone and thats why i posted this message in TECH forum, but nobody replied there, so i started this thread. ’
However, if we dont’ let others know about it and dont do anything abt it, then others will be coming. The site #2 (http://dialspace.dial.pipex.com/tow.../geq96/original ) was first hosted at AOL, but someone complained abt it and they shut it down. All im trying to do here is to aware people about these kinda sites. I am not good at talking, and i can never make a good argument why these sites should be taken off, but i was hoping to spread the word, so that someone who is better then me, can do something abt it.
We can’t just ignore em if they are gonna be spreading crap abt our religion. I am not anywhere close to being religious, but i just wanted to do something abt these sites.
Amad, i dont’ think this is a useless alert. If we are not going to alert our people and MOST IMPORTANTLY non-muslims abt this kinda stuff, then misinformation will keep spreading. In my opinion, misinformation is a bigger weapon then any atomic bomb man can create.
