Imagine tasting schit only to later realize it truly was schit. What you’re suggesting could be applicable in adolescence but not when you’re a man. He was for years busy picking up balls of the same characters he is now all of a sudden against. Highly likely he might shape shift and revert back to doing the exact same thing again, i.e. ball lifting whenever he deems his self-interests are at risk.
