From my understanding Wahabism was started and named after a man with a similar name (i will try and find his details) any way....after Hudarat PBUH had passed away he was against people following saints and informed people that they were going back to the old ways of shirk... so people started going on what he said and done.... Now I don't understand if wahabis say following saints who in my opinion just guide and inform you on the teachings of Islam are bad (shirk) what are they exactly doing??????
They are mitigating the archeology of Islam on one point agenda that it creates shirk. I think this Wahabism is not an old phenomeno (may be 2-3 centuries old) and how the places which were kept intact (even in Khulafa e Rashideen period) suddenly posed risk of shirk?
I think they are too rigid in interpreting Islam. But the question is they probably follow Hanbli fiqah, which was followed for more than a millennium, so how they created this new interpretation of Islam on their own?
They believe we commit sin by performing shirk....how they are not is beyond me.... remember there will be 72 different groups of Muslims by the day of judgement.
They've created this interpretation on their own by gathering many converts and feeding their understanding to them.....
