Sex Education should not be seen as a taboo, I can understand and agree with the argument that there needs to be age-appropriate teaching delivered by professionally trained teachers. Other than that, Sex Education in countries like Pakistan is vital, to me it's one the best ways to combat child abuse and population rise. I feel there's real ignorance amongst people that Sex Education is exploration of feelings and relationships. This perception couldn't be any further from truth. A proper Sex Education must teach child ot young person rather, about sexually transmitted infections (STI), give them enough information about ways and types of abuse to enable them to detect exploitive behaviour and say no.
A proper Sex Education in no way promotes sexual intimacy amongst young crowd, if anything it makes young people aware of the concequences and dangers of such relationships. How babies are really made and how our bodies work is basic science, you learn all this in biology class. Sex Education is something totaly different but increasingly relevant.
Coming to my second point, if the good old CM is so concerned about vulgarity than how about investing some real money in reviving Arts and Culture in province? The theatre belongs to actors, writers, artists, people with exceptionally creative and technical mind - it is not supposed to be a circus stage for adult dancers and pimps. The theatre is not the culprit, it's actually the real victim in this vulgar mess.
If the Punjab governement wants to make a difference in the soceity and serve the great culture of the land, they need to flex their creative muscles but hey looks like the lack of sleeping is really getting to me. Did I just say PMLN to flex their creative muscles? How can I even put PMLN and creativity in one sentence? I really do need to splash some water on my face and come back to my senses.
In his last stint Punjab Chief Minister, Shahbaz Sharif, had said that vulgarity and obscenity in the name of culture would not be tolerated and strict action would be taken against those ‘de-tracking’ the younger generation.
In his recent stint as Punjab CM he has not only reiterated his stance on vulgarity but has also warned NGOs not to impart ‘sexual education in schools’.
He also constituted a high-level committee headed by the chief secretary to take action against those who violate rules by performing vulgar dances on stage and TV and has asked people to keep an eye on NGOs introducing ‘indecent sexual education’ in the syllabus.
This is a wonderful initiative taken by the Punjab CM. Especially in a pious city like Lahore, where people don’t have sex and babies just fall on mothers’ laps from the sky.
1977: Owner of the Nite Keelub, Madam Najma, threatening a young Shahbaz Sharif, who wanted her to close down her evil club.
Banning is not the answer to anything. If they think these adults movies to damaging the culture and industry, they need to put a really tough and efficent censor board to stop these films from making it to the cinema and strictly prohibit underage viewing of these movies, I'm using the expression quite loosely here.
Unless there's genuine efforts and investment to revive the creative industry in Pakistan, such films will dominate the the scene. They will continue to stand out like a sore thumb.

I agree.. Sex Education does not mean explaining sexy stuff... but to provide guidelines... pros and cons....
Explaining general body function in term of biology and making point in decent manner... I am all in favor of such classes in 9th or 10th grade.... when youth just starts....
I think if we make an alnalysis of popular dance steps, we will found that related to tasks in agriculture and household activities. The stretching of arms reminds me household activity of churning milk ‘doodh bilona’
You mean dancing in public, in pairs, and exchanging partners?
The gathering of men and women used to be private and separate, in Punjabi culture.
Have you read the article shared in this thread?
How did the writer refute the Arabanisation and promote local culture?
He tired to make people believe(fool) we are being culturally invade by Arabs and made modern cultural invasion acceptable.
And I believe he has been successful in his attempt so far.
For those who know punjabi culture...
Maila after besakh(visakh) is one of most prominent example exhibiting Punjabi culture.
Can anyone enlighten me with an example from past decades where women used to be sold like products on this occasion, or even exposed to public, let aside what NFP want.

leave that NFP and his point of view. He is just repeating his ideology as a satire. But apart from NFP, there are people who believe that most of things are being banned (are at risk) to create a suffocation in society.

Banning an ad from TV is suffocation?
Removing content from the curriculum of public institute, that actually majority wants too, is suffocation?
If some people are really enthusiastic about getting their children sex education, they can arrange it own their own as most them can afford it.
Why put so much energy on educating children about sex, where they don’t even know about their general health?
Do our children get basic medical facilities? Why so much energy for far less relevant things?

The issue is not just limited to sex education. people are being killed for visiting mazarats.. Cinema halls are being burnt for God knows which kind of ishq e Rasool. This attitude of destroying everything which is against your perception or you can't understand, is creating suffocation.

That is different thing actually. Do you think that this problem could be resolved by going against the opinion of majority which is neither extremist nor liberal?

what is the opinion of majority you are referring to? Ban everything in the name of ideology? Kill people who have different practices (wrong or right that don't cause any hindrance in peace)?
Instead of advocating a complete ban on certain type of adverts which can only last for so long, Pakistan should have a system of watershed broadcasting. For example, keep the adverts with adult content off the TV until 9-10 pm, like they do in countries like Britain, Australia, and Europe etc. That’s only workable and sustainable system to keep advertising standards in check and child protection in view. If children are still exposed to adult content after 9pm, then it’s essentially the case of bad parenting, the state must not be blamed for it.
