This is something that I wanted to post quite some time ago but had forgotten…
About ten years ago Indian films were banned from my families homes mainly due to the coarse language that was quite freely being used in them. It was feared that the children would pick up the words and feel that it was okay to use them.
Yesterday there was some flick playing on Zee, I think it was Zee, and I heard a few slurs and profane words spewing from the mouth of a villain. It reminded me of wanting to post this thread.
So here it is…what do you guys think about such language in Indian movies?
Hey,
I don't really think it is appropriate in the wayz that these indian people use it. I don't think it is appropriate in any case.
My personal view is that most indians try to be very westernized. This meaning that they try to act like the people from American/English movies. But to be quite honest, I think that it just makes the people look fairly idiotic, what do you think. But then any time an actor/actress in Indian movies try to speak English, they make a fool of themselves!!
But again this is my personal view.
But I dpo generally think that there is a lot of vulgarity in most of these Indian Movies. But I do not think it suits them, at all!!
I think it doesnt matter the least bit as to whats being said or done in a movie. Under no circumstances can we delegate our responsibilites to the media. What our kids learn is supposed to be between us, them and their school. Everything else has to be regulated by parents. Where kids hang out, what movies they watch, what they do after school and what tv programs they watch are all options that the parents have in their hands, and should enforce them accordingly. Because frankly speaking, if we start worrying about whats kind of language they use in movies, we would honestly have to rule out 95% of them.
