there is this website (ip restricted) that I can access from the University computers. to access this from home, I setup a VPN connection, but the site refuses me access saying I have to login in from university.
i get the univeristy IP on the VPN (132.206.x.x). I’m behind a router, so i’m guessing that is messing things up. Maybe I need to add port forwarding?triggering?
ANyone have any ideas?

establish a remote desktop connection to one your university PC and then login to that pc and go to the site…
waise, it should work from ur home pc too if you can r sure about ur IP being the university ip.. u can verify that by going to http://whatismyip.com
i don’t think u need to add/forward a port on the router…

whatsmyip is going to see my routers IP, which is obviously not the University IP.
I get the VPN IP on my comp ..
It is a http://www.books24x7.com
And I do the remote desktop thinggy almost everyday, but I want to do VPN …

This all has to do with the default gateway. If you're home and VPN in to the university use ur universities's gateway. (properties of VPN connection, TCP Properties, Advanced button, keep "use default gateway on remote network" checked").
That should work. If not write back and i can give you a special routing entry into your computer that would send all packets thru ur VPN connection. Let me know.

Here's the static route:
route ADD 157.0.0.0 MASK 255.0.0.0 157.55.80.1 METRIC 3 IF 2

You have to have the destination address, mask and gateway filled in. Gateway would be the ip address you get when you VPN into ur university.

2nd method that i hav suggested is…2 give the parameters directly to asp or php (whateva running on uor university’s server) and it will give u resultant page… u can filnd out its name form tag but still command line mey resultant page ka address kasy capture hoga…
u hav to go for such method…providing the resultant page is static…like the attendence sheet ya course list…kyo k us page k andar jo links hon gay (NOT INTERNAL LINKS WHICH ARE FURTHER SUBDIVISION OF THAT WEBSITE) nahin khulain gay …if uwant to get them as well u hav to find out the command line TO PRESS THE SSUBMIT BUTTON…

the thing is that the site sees my IP first, and doesn’t even give me the login page. tells me to login from the library (aka University IP).
I think that route thing might work, but I can’t get that entry done.
Not only do the IPs provided by NSlookup don’t take me to the required site, it is not accepting the mask I use 255.255.255.0
