People's champ,
Since you are posting five positions, wouldn't it be better to have5 choices instead of 3?teen mein to aadhay favourites bhi pooray nahin aatay.Well here are mine:
1.javed Minadad
2.Viv Richards
3.Imran Khan
4.Abdul Qadir
5.Wasim Akram
Another thing champ, you are biased for bowlers and against batsmen.
I think that is a good change. Most people are otherwise biased for batsman. Look at the role of Walsh-Ambrose-Mcgrath in current WI-Aus test series. Walsh took 26 wkts in 4 tests, Mcgrath 30 and Ambrose 19. But everyone talks of Lara.
Of course, Lara innings in tests won by WI were GREAT.
My FAVE cricketers not necessarily those I consider the best) are
1) W.G. Grace
2) Imran Khan
3) Don Bradman
What is the big deal with W. G. Grace wjho has average of around 32. Even as British player, I would rank Ian Botham or Sutcliffe or hammond or Laker far above
What's the big deal??? His long flowing beard as he runs between the stumps ... lol.
Botham is quite prejudice and some even consider him as racist (although i doubt that). Besides, it's not quantity but quality and W.G. Grace was the best of his time, given the circumstances and conditions they faced in the early days of cricket. Similarly Imran Khan was the best at his time as was Mr Bradman.
Anyhow, you're just complaining because there's no Indian in my rankings!
No, not because there is no Indian. But I really feel WG Grace is overrated. best of his time??? well, the cricket was confined to few counties that time.
In fact if I write my most favorite British cricketers at all times, it would be
1) Hammond
2) Sutcliffe
3) Botham
4) Laker
5) Barnes
My personal favorite, of course, remains David Gower. It was a pleasure to see him batting, though his statistics is not very impressive. Botham was of course a great allrounder. About the other 4 in my list whom I had no opportunity to see, the statistics speaks of itself.
1.Imran Khan
No one can beat tha Khan, OyE!
2. Jonty Rodes (spells?)
Excellent Fielding!
3. Gotta love Moin Khan for those last behind the wicket catches, when we won!

Yup.. Moin, that is an interesting choice. he is just any captain's dream. Gives his best when needed.
Well of chorse Moin is a better player than Latif in my point of view..
mine,
imran
sachin
v.richards
Imran Khan
Wasim Akram
Waqar Younis
JAved Miandad
Saqlain Mushtaq and Shoaib Akhter are promising prospects, but still have a long way to go. As for Malik, he's never performed when the team needed it most. And as far as Waqar goes, he needs to put in a couple of good performances with the bowl, without getting hammered to all parts of the park, by sub standard batsman like Jadeja before he can come up the list.
Even if Waqar retires tomorrow, he has made more name for himself than Moin will ever make. Maybe now his days are over.
Maybe..Waqar may be remembered as one of the best fast bowlers to come from Pakistan. But he will definately not be remembered as a gutsy cricketer and a fighter, and thats what Moin Khan is. In my book, that takes him miles ahead of Waqar Younis. I think you need to have a big heart to suceed as a fast bowler. A perfect example of that is Courtney Walsh, and closer to home, Wasim Akram.
All hope for Waqar is not lost as yet, he can still make a comeback but he really needs to work hard on his mental approach to the game.
Believe In Angels.
Laterz,
ManiaX.
