I worked for Canadian blood services as volunteer during last year in highschool. Right now, i am trying to get information about red cross.

btw, interesting thing i noticed was the girls/guy ratio in volunteering. There were more girls in the 3 institutions we were placed :)

Not true, I remember seeing more boys than girls standing in front of girl colleges as volunteer chaperon’s…same with the female section on commercial buses, there was always more boyz compared to the girlies…

as to what:
Depends, lots of little things in every holiday. Last Summer I worked with social deprevation. Youth Officer. In a hospital. Teaching older ladies English. This was hard as they were Gujrati and I didnt understand. I have some work in a care home coming up and have sent an application off to work with victims of domestic abuse. O and Youth Councils and involved in consltation meetings with poepel who want to screw up the NHS < some changes coming up lovelies.
Include collecting money for charities, but that doesnt really count.

I work on a rape crisis hotline one night a week and in a church thrift store one day a week. These are volunteer.
My kids occasionally raise funds for their local Mosque's literacy and ESL program by baking cookies, cakes, breads, etc and selling them. This way they do not give our money, but money they worked for. I don't know if that counts as charity, but they have been doing this for the past five years. It's not a lot, but I try to explain, heart counts more.

I have been volunteering at a cancer center for almost 2 years now, besides that i have also volunteered for american cancer society, nursing home, at shriner's children hospital...

I volunteered and joined Gupshup to show a few religiously inclined people the light at the end of the tunnel. I am still working on it but it's a long process to change dirty ole habits.
Jokes aside I did when I was college, I used to hand out sandwiches and soup to homeless people in the winter time (around Xmas and Thanksgiving), now I do local community work like cleaning nature trails/ fixing our local park etc.
