VOIP service in PAKISTAN

Hello there folks

I heard that there are some legal or some illegal companies in PAk that offer voip service at very cheap rates so if someone wants to call PAK from overseas using internet these companies use internet to PSTN gateway to make it like a local call.
Has anyone heard of that .?I am sure lots of Pakistanies overseas would defintly want to find out how to do it .
i have already searched on the internet and apparently there are many but their rates arent very good

So please share your info/views about this

Re: VOIP service in PAKISTAN

Isn't that something like that Vonage??? something or other?

Broadband long distance???

For something like $25.00 (U.S) monthly?

And willingly admit to stupidity when it comes to technology or technical terms.

Was my thinking .... Vonage..an added expense.... Why would I want to pay for broadband telephone service when I just as easily and more cheaply talk to my long distance friends and family by way of internet chat?

Re: VOIP service in PAKISTAN

VOIP is so new not too many ppl knows about it. Its not like placing a call over the internet. They use dedicated network + high end codec whole 9 yards. Voice quality is so good as if you are talking next door. Trust you need to do more research before you make comments like that.
Companies like Vonage + Vonics + Voice wing etc they are not stupid to invest millions of dollar for worth less service. Free chat and voice services can’t complete aginst proper VOIP providers

Re: VOIP service in PAKISTAN

VoIP is old as the internet. I was using voice chat back in 95. It was sucky at that time, what with 200 mhz PC's and 33.6 k modems, and that's the only thing (almost) that has changed since then. Now the PC's are faster and ppl have broadband (Pakistan is still lagging behind in that regards). Once the stupid bureaucrats over there get over the fact that internet is here to stay paid service like Vonage and Vonics would be history.

Re: VOIP service in PAKISTAN

Wasn’t saying service was stupid…

Was saying for my situation…not worth the extra expense..
