Re: Vitamins

Re: Vitamins

I think Viactiv has vitamins that aren't haram.

Re: Vitamins

I wanted to bump this thread, because I found more information on the topic. I know its kiddish, but Flintstone's gummy vitamins are ok to use if you can get the version that says "fish gelatin" in its ingredients. It wont be available everywhere, so you might have to fish around.

Another good idea is to check out a kosher store.

Re: Vitamins

Apparently Centrum has a liquid version as well - available at Walgreens. It contains no gelatin.

Re: Vitamins

really…thanks i’ll look into it

Re: Vitamins

Osteo bi-flex or glucosamine both work well for arthritus and joint pain. However, I wonder if young people can use these and it is not harmfeul or have side effects? I thaught these are only for older people like over 45.

Re: Vitamins

I got the Centrum liquid. Its available everywhere now actually; I checked around.

Its good. :k: And not so expensive. I got my bottle for 7 bucks.

Re: Vitamins

wow i didnt know some vitamins are haram...thanks for bumping this thread.
so u can buy centrum liquid from any drug store?

Re: Vitamins

What does it taste like?

Re: Vitamins

Well it doesn't taste like cardboard.

Re: Vitamins

Thanks for informing PCG sis, I had been taking Centrum for months but I'll stop- this is where this forum comes in handy. I dont take food outside too cuz no one prepares halaal meat.

Re: Vitamins

...this has got me thinking, i take multi-vitamin tablets.

Re: Vitamins

im sure it comes with diff flavors, no??

Re: Vitamins

No.

Re: Vitamins

You can take walgreen brand A to Z vitamin, it does not have any gelatin.

Re: Vitamins

'SPECTRUM', from 'LIFE brand', multivitamin tablets are not gelatin-based.

They can be found at any 'Shopper's Drug Mart' location in Canada, not sure if it's available in U.S. anywhere though because it is Shopper's drug mart's own brand.

Re: Vitamins

Centrum liquid has considerable amount of alcohal in it around 5 to 6 %. It is written in the front of the bottle.

Re: Vitamins

In addition to Vitamins, as one gets older, we need to also take "Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA)" this compound is made by the body, but decreases with age.

ALA is the transport for vitamins "C" and Vitamin "E" to the human cells, ALA has properties that make it soluble in water and also soluble in oil.
Vitamin C is water soluble and Vitamin E is oil soluble.
You take the vitamins but if they are not absorbed or only partially absorbed, it does not benefit us much.
ALA is also very strong anti-Oxidant, also keeps the skin from wrinkling, it is also called the longivity supplement. can be had over the counter in USA and Canada too.

Re: Vitamins

Thanks for starting this thread!

Yes, I used to use Centrum a while ago, but my doctor told me to avoid it since it contains gelatin. He recommended another one called "Geritol" or you can use the Rite Aid Brand multi-vitamins as well.
