Vitamins for Hair?

sigh OK, I have fine hair to begin with…but for the past few days, for some reason I get the feeling that it’s getting thinner! I don’t exactly have the healthiest diet in the world…I live alone and eat out most of the time…I don’t cook desi food at home, but do cook stuff like pasta, make sandwiches, tacos etc. Plus I’ve been under a lot of extra stress for the past few weeks. BTW, I do use Amla oil on my hair every few weeks.

What specific vitamins are supposed to help you have healthy or thicker hair? And also, what foods/fruits have them? Anyone know of any good sites that talk about this?

I’ve been trying to search online for this info. but keep ending up with sites that’re selling pills.

Re: Vitamins for Hair?

Why don't you just try Rogain?

Re: Vitamins for Hair?

For several reasons.

Before I spend about $54 for a 4 month supply of Rogaine and rub chemicals on my scalp, I’d like to try changing my diet first to see if this problem can be solved “naturally”.

Rogaine doesn’t guarantee hair growth. And also, if I depend on Rogaine, I’ll have to use it for the rest of my life.

I’m sure the fact that I’m under a lot of extra stress(which I’m expecting to be gone in a few months) is also playing a role in this.

A few months from now, after my “extra stress” is gone and I’ve tried changing my diet, if I still feel its getting thinner, then I will definately consider other options.

Re: Vitamins for Hair?

Mehndi also helps. It's very good for your hair in many ways.

Massage is also very good, I once read that massage with coco oil is the best for your hair. I love it, becuase it's not smelly at all. the kids love it and sometimes I leave it in their hair and they even go to school from time to time with that oil in their hair.

And it's true, high stress levels do increase your hair falling out. I must add, it's normal for your hair to fall out to a certain amount.

As to foods, fruit and veggies are always good, especially when you don't cook your veggies much and make sure most of the vitamins aren't lost, wholegrain food is good.

Iron.

Re: Vitamins for Hair?

I agree, but lolz i don’t leave the house with oil in my hair, unless it’s down the street!..i’d stay away from chemicals if ur hair is falling out…it’s true, with all the diet and life styles ur saying u have, it makes a big difference…eat lots of fresh fruits and veggies…u cud try taking supplements in the mean time…but outside food regularly is not good, so try to cut it down…try castor oil…i posted this hair pack on another thread also: 2 eggs, juice of 1 lemon, castor oil and ground fenugreek (methi)…wash after 1 hour…this is good esp. in humid weather climates…and mehndi really is good overall, for all hair types

Re: Vitamins for Hair?

does all the hair products make ur hairs fall ( products such as gel, hair spray etc )?

Re: Vitamins for Hair?

It varies for different ppl, depends how strong ur hair is...try to use alcohol-free gels, hairsprays etc.

Re: Vitamins for Hair?

Thanks a lot for the responses. :)

I went to Wal-Mart yesterday and got some fruits.....I really hope it's just the stress/diet that's causing this.
