I read recently that vitamin C........while it has benefits such as fading spots and encouraging collagen............ALSO inhibits the production of melanin.
^I only read this on website....but if this is the case.....then inhibiting melanin production will make skin more sensitive to the sun. And if one is not careful (applying sunblock) it can lead to hyperpigmentation or dark patches on the skin.

i made it using moisturizer instead of glycerine. Didnt observe closely and i thought it didnt make any difference. But a friend dropped by today and told my my complexion looked 'brighter'. Thank you colorful, i am gonna start using it on my arms too.

I lov this stuff. I use it only at night time now. I have dry/dark knee caps and I've been using the left over Serum on my legs and knee caps for about 7-8 days and no lie they feel smoother look lighter and are more moisturized! If u have dry skin then I definitely recommend u try this out!

I used it yesterday for my face..
Today my skin feels really smooth n soft, but it still feels kindof sticky...dats d down part.
mayb i should use it every other day instead of every day? or just put it on for 20 minutes and wash it off.... suggestions?

yes I am now not using it every day but every other day.
On my eyelids it feels like that a lil... i have very dry skin. I think i used too much of it. it was a first trial :P so from tomorrow a lil less

For those who used it a few questions :
1) How long before you saw a real lightening of skin ( I'm assuming you girls are talking about brownish patches on cheeks .......please correct me if i'm wrong )
2) Did you use it over the eyelids and under eye area too.......and did it lighten dark circles ?
3) What's the percentage you'd say of lightening e.g 50 % , 60 , 80% lighter patches ?

^ Yes it should work fine for combination skin.
The serum will irritate ur eyes, so keep it well away from there
U should notice a difference within the first few days. alot of my marks have become lighter but I to have started using it with a 1 day gap.
I usually get a (slightly damp) towel and put it over my cushion. which I find more comfortable. otherwise I just feel very irritated when my sticky face touches the pillow case. (I feel like everything sticks to my face) also I've started using less of the glycerin.

CE do u use lot of C powder in ur recipe? like how much concentrated it is? i mean it shouldn't irritate. i havn't done DIY C yet but i hav had used ready made ones( diff brands) even with 10% concentration n i never experienced any discomfort or stinging.
may b u should find some other recipie.

i got this one for u from another board. this one's glycerine free and highly concenterated
1 tsp of Vit C, with 1/4 tsp of Rosehip seed oil, and 1 oz of distilled water. That should give about a 14% soln: 5.0/(5.0+1.25+30.0).
But check the pH first. pH needs to be <3.5 to be effectively used by the skin. Store in dark bottle in the frig. Only mix what you can use in a couple weeks so it is fresh and potent.

I just find it irritating and uncomfortable when I have to lay my face on the pillow thts why I use a damp towel.
