When my daughter was in nappies, I bought pampers from Lahore, they had the outer plastic on them, the ones I used were the cotton soft ones which u coud not buy from there. However at least pampers were available.
Nowadays i am in Pakistan with my baby who will turn 1 year tomorrow iA, i have brought infant Tylenol, ibuprofen, formula, cereal, jar food (because i had space), some diapers with me. First I bought pampers from here with jell, but they didn't suit her nowi have got huggies and they are really great.
wen i visited pak i bought the pampers imported from saudia..otherwise all other companies u cannt say gud or not as my baby's doc in pak said.secondly every1 who is going pak must take baby food bcuz no all type of baby bottle food is available there(i was in lhr n i visited metro n alfateh but my baby's food was not there).so u mst ask ur relatives in pak to confirm dat if ur needed things r available there or not?wipes r so xpensive in pak (by pampers).its really not easy to go wid baby n also we cannt survive wid visit there:)
i did not take too much with me for my son as i did not have enough space.
you can get formula and baby food in pakistan .... i had used a couple different brands of formula in US too so i was sure he would not have problem switching to a different one in pakistan.
i got a different brand of baby food jar in plane and my son ate it as well
i used diapers that i bought there too. do not use wipes at home at all and rarely outside.
i did have some problem with the diaper rash though, but there are many other factors that may have contributed to it. anyways i am sure good diaper rash cremes are available there too.
i think your baby is young and she will get used to all the stuff available in pakistan since you are moving.
if you are moving to a big city (peshawar is also a big city) you would not have any problem finding anything..... i was at a very small town and my son managed.
I think others have hit the nail on the head-if you're moving over for good you'll be better off finding suppliers out there.
I do think you'll be better off taking supplies for the first week until you get use to things out there. Most cities have an 'import store' where you can find things that you may not find in most stores however I did notice Mothercare is Karachi which is great for when we go visiting in-laws (yay).
My OH has mentioned you can get Gripe Water (Woodward brand!) literally all over the country quite easily. My mum says the same, she can remember her mum having it in the pantry for her kids.
I just got to know while in Pakistan that there were breast pumps available and used here since times of our grandmothers even, but of course of different type.
dunno about Karachi, but there are mothercare outlets in Lahore
where are the outlets in lahore? I am planning to take my 7 month old soon and i'm really worried abt the formula and water. I don't know if her formula is availble there or not.
how abt travel documents??? do you have to get a passport made for a baby?
does the baby need a visa? or a NICOP card?
Yes the baby definitely needs a passport and either a visa or NICOP
There is a difference in fee, NICOP has lower fee and is valid for I think 10 years but takes around 3 months to arrive whereas visa costs more, is valid for 5 years but you get it faster.
