Visiting Lahore- Help Needed

Hey guys Im Leha

Im travelling to Lahore in the end of June and im nervous as hell! I havent been there since I was a kid and Im going alone along with my cousin who’s in the same situation as I am.
I have family in Lahore and will be staying with them but no ones my age so i havent spoken to them and I dont trust their taste in clothes etc

So what I wanna know is:

-Is it safe in Lahore (ive seen and heard a lot of bad things abt pak the past cpl of yrs)?

-Where can I find the BESTTTT shopping places for clothes, shoes and other random things?

-What places are worth seeing in Lahore?

-How friggin hot will it be this time a yr?

-What do I need to bring with me? I’ll be staying in pak for a month…

and also .. how much do stuff cost now a days?? How much is a pair of nice shoes? A casual shalwar kameez? A part wear? Churiyan? Payals etc?

and also … what abt the bijli? does it disappear every other minute or what??

Im soooo excited but im nervous at the same time so any advice would be highly appreciated …

and also … can I wear tights and short sleeve dress on my way there .. or will it be inappropriate at the lahore airport?? Do men stare? (something ive heard)

Thanks

^ Ditto. Thread moved.

woops sorry didnt know abt this section :) thanks for moving it tho

I can help you regarding this.. coz i m a Lahorian....

well whatever you heared is right about Pakistan, Pakistan is under attack of so called taleban terrorists. Anyhow, Lahore never stops, Lahore is a live city, which is known as city of Colleges, City of gardens and city of Zinda dilan ( Hearts )

Well there are alots of places, Like Lahore fort, Lahore museum, Lahore Badshahi mosque, Minar e Pakistan, Fortress stadium, Liberty, etc etc..

you can shop in Pace ( Gulberg ), Liberty ( Gulberg ), Defence Y block, Pot Puri Fortress stadium, Anarkali ( Mall Road ), Ichra Bazar, Sadar Bazar and alots of more.... depends upon you.

Light is a big problem in Lahore right now, The Loadshedding is increased upto 16 hrs a day. Weather would be very hot, 40+ *C would be expected.

But Nights are cool, see worthy. you must visit Lahore in night, as it looks like a First Night Bride. :) specially, along with Canal...

Regarding clothes, you can dress up whatever you want, but you will be noticed if it is little out of way.. Everyone will try to get your cell number, or contact number and will try on you hahahahah.. thats really wierd.

Anything else you want to know I m here to furnish.

Regard,

Gujjar.

Thanks for the reply Gujjar ;)

LOL im scared now!! My cousins told me Lahore is safe .. but the whole attack thing scares me :O

damn .. 40 degrees is A LOT! im gonna die ..

Are bazaars opened in the evenings .. past 6 or so?? or do you have go in the morning/afternoon to do ur shopping?

Also .. what are the estimated prices for clothes etc? I really wanna know how much I can get :P I hope its not as expensive as here ..

And whats in right now when it comes to fashion ..?

Prices are so cheap in comparison to UK dont worry.

bazaars are open until 12 at night, so don’t worry. and they don’t even open until 12 pm, but as soon as they open, there’s traffic. even though the temp’s at 40, it’s the mugginess that will bug you the most. so as soon as you land, get a few lawn shalwar kameez made ASAP. it helps a lot.

as for bringing in stuff, bring in all your essentials that you normally use, in terms of personal and beauty products, as well as something special that you have to have. for example, i always bring a jar of coffee along with me.

prices for clothes vary. you can get a nice suit for around 500 rupees, from say, fortress stadium or Pace markets, or they can get as high as something thousands. again, depends on where you get stuff from. gujjar listed a pretty good list of places to shop at. i would also recommend going to either dupatta gali in liberty market, or kaarigar gali in main market, to see the type of embroidery that is out right now. it gives you a very good idea of what si really in. lahore tends to have a different sense of style than other cities, like karachi or islamabad, so i can’t really give you a good idea of what is in, but if you want to see what some people are getting made in lahore, you can head to Fashion & Beauty or Wedding

what else. umm shoes again, depends on where you buy them from. ECS can cost you starting at 500. the tharra guys can cost you 250. but, tharra shoes can break like…easily…atleast they did for me :stuck_out_tongue: chooriyan are getting expensive! i can’t remember the price that wel right now, but last time i shopped for them, it was like… 100 for a plain set. not very fun. payals if you’re getting silver or gold ones, that will probably depend on the price of silver or gold.

Re: Visiting Lahore- Help Needed

Some of the good places to shop for clothes, shoes, jewellery ect would be
Liberty- you will find alot of variety of clothes there.
Aurega and New Aurega - this would be good for reasonable prices.
Anarkali - you will find literally everything there. Especially jewellery/chooriyan and Shoes.(especially if you like khusays)
Shadman- again there are a variety of shops here.

hope this has helped for your shopping : )

hi, Iám coming to Lahore in August and would appreciate it if you could also guide me to the shops and I would also like to socialize with friends over there that would be new to me. I have only some family there but do not really have a circle of friends there because I live in the USA. thanx

HEY you all,
I am the citizen of LAHORE,
ANd I think that its the best place, having interesting events, cool places, simple people.
but as you know that every place has some bad sides too, so lahore, but not too much, you should be calm down, and enjoy the food streets, shopping malls, parks, people are so good and sissy as well.
WISH YOU BEST OF LUCK.
