Re: Visa type for turkey
Speaking from experience, schengen visas are easiest to apply for (even more so if you live near london) and depending on the embassy, you can get them for free as well.
Up until recently, spouses of EU nationals didn't need a schengen or tourist visa to travel to switzerland so my husband and I went there shortly after he arrived in the UK. However, that rule has now changed unfortunately.
You could go to Bulgaria without having to apply for a separate visa too.
We've been to Madrid without applying for a Schengen visa, we just took our marriage certificates and argued with the immigration officers as technically schengen states cannot refuse entry to spouses of EU nationals if they are travelling together. But it's a big risk to take and depends on what kind of mood the officer is in.
Re: Visa type for turkey
i think best is take visa before you travel if your hubby has pakistani nationality.
for turkey they suggests to pakistanis to take visa before your travel due to present situation.
Turkey is the only one country who loves pakistanis
Re: Visa type for turkey
^Desi ostrich, that's not true about Turkey loving Pakistanis, when i travelled to Turkey on my Pakistani passport, i was treated like $hit, but when I traveled on my American passport, I was welcomed with open arms.
Either way, you need a visa, a visit visa. You can do pretty much the whole thing via mail. Are you planning only on Istanbul or other areas too? If only Istanbul, it's easy to find a hotel and flight without the whole package deal. Try to find a hotel near Sultan Ahmet Square. Go to Trip Advisor, they have great reviews. I personally stayed at Hotel Tash Konak, and loved it.
If you want to travel outside Istanbul and feel adventurous, drop me a line, i will hook you up with my travel agent who's IN Turkey and does a phenomenal job of setting everything up for you and will get you fantastic prices.
