Is it true that you only get a VISA to stay for one year? If you have a lot of family there isn’t it possible to get a permanent stay for a few years or maybe for always?
Re: VISA information for Pakistan
If you can prove your Pakistani origin, you can apply for a POC (Pakistan Origin Card) which allows visa-free entry to Pakistan for 7 years.
You will find all the information about POC you need if you click here.
Re: VISA information for Pakistan
You need NICOP not POC
Re: VISA information for Pakistan
If you hold dual-nationality, ie Pakistani plus another one like US, UK, etc. then you can use NICOP. But if you don’t have Pakistani citizenship and can prove your Pakistani Origin, you would need to apply for POC.
Re: VISA information for Pakistan
I have just got my POC. Bear in mind ...they have been having a lot of problems in issuing these so you have to ba patient if you do apply.
Re: VISA information for Pakistan
p.s. i have dual nationality but i still have poc:- does this make a difference?
Re: VISA information for Pakistan
Well the answer is pretty simple.
If you or your parents can have dual (multi) nationalities then you need NICOP.
If you have only one nationality (other than pakistani) & cannot have dual citizenship then you need POC.
Both POC & NICOP give u visa free entry to Pakistan. The only difference is the expiray date, Fee & time limit to stay in Pakistan.
NICOP US$15 for 10 years (Unlimited time to stay, allowed in Pakistan)
POC US$100 for 1 year then renewed (Can stay in Pakistan for upto seven years, but if u stay in Pakistan on POC for three continous years you can replace your POC with NICOP).
I think this is enough information.
Re: VISA information for Pakistan
yesh that was more than enough . thanks
Re: VISA information for Pakistan
My parents both have an id card of Pakistan. They said with that card they have all the rights the people have who live in Pakistan. I don't know what card that is. They're going to get me one sooner or later.
I called the Pakistani consulate here some months ago. And I was told since I have no Pakistani nationality and I'm not born there, I would have to show my parents id cards to proove my origin, and then I could get a visa for just one year.
According to my parents I can stay longer. All confusing!
Re: VISA information for Pakistan
Now that I've seen the links, I think my parents have NICOP cards, they have yellow/brownish coloured cards.
My parents only have British passports, I think that means I will probably end up with a POC.
Thanks for the info and links!
Re: VISA information for Pakistan
That Yellow brownish cards are the old ones, they need to apply for NICOP first & while they apply you can fill in the application and apply for one too.
You dont need to apply for POC, you will be wasting time & money as it takes around eight months to a year to get a POC (US$ 100 per year), while it takes around six weeks to get a NICOP (US$ 15 for 10 years).
You dont need to have Pakistani passport to apply for NICOP, u can even apply for NICOP if your parent have the NICOP, you do need to show them your British passport as well as a British birth certificate.
Re: VISA information for Pakistan
Oh ok, thanks for the tips. :)
Re: VISA information for Pakistan
My Pakistani passport is expired. Can I travel to Pakistan on my British passport but use my NICOP to enter?
Re: VISA information for Pakistan
Yes, thats what the NICOP is for. I did the same.
