If you have a British Passport, then you do not need a visa.
visa for Dubai if stay is a week?
British passport holders get a free 30 day visa. My mother in law went for3 weeks then a week to abu dhabi came back into dubai they stamped anothr 30 days for her lol so she extended her stay for a total of 6 weeks
Look on hotels.com or booking.com you can find good deals and will let you search with min and max price if you stay within the city you have things like city tax to pay stay further out those are avoided.
visa for Dubai if stay is a week?
Nope - have a Pakistani passport

You can get a tourist visa, which is valid for 14 days, and would be the cheapest in this case. You would have to get that in advance, through your travel agent, or even your airline can sponsor you, if you are using Emirates or Etihad. If you choose to get a visa on arrival, then on a Pakistani passport, the maximum you can get is a transit visa, which is an overnight stay pass.
A decent hotel with meals and travel will probably cost around AED 500 per day for a family of 3. Id recommend renting a car as opposed to using cabs. It will be much cheaper, and will give you a lot more flexibility.

hi Silaaj,
just to update you that 14days visa is not a tourist it's a transit visa which does not exist any more. the minimum is a one month (tourist visa).

one month tourist visa. This will cost you about 80.00 pounds, depending on how much does your travel agent keeps for himself.

yes you can get visa on arrival but not for a week. Maximum duration will be 96 hours. But this will subject to immigration approval. So the best would be to get a visa before traveling.-How much approximate cost per day per head if we are 2 adults & a baby staying in a hotel, travelling & food?
All the below hotels are nice, clean and abour 80 pounds per night including breakfast. Let me know what part of Dubai you are intrested to stay and i can suggest you the hotels and rates.

If you have hotel reservation you will get visa on entry, even on Pakistani passport. But the catch is you have to be travelling from Europe/NA.
For US/British they will stamp on arrival for thirty days without any charge.
