Re: virus - xp home security 2012
Try following the steps.
-DP
p.s I wouldn’t consider this the same virus you got, but I think it would be good if you downloaded malware.
Re: virus - xp home security 2012
I would go to control panel > users and create a new user account (make sure you provide it administraor rights when you create it).
Log on as new user
Run an anti-virus scan
(make sure you update your av program first)
if you don’t have an anti-virus program then download avg free or ms security essentials
once the virus is removed thne you can start using your normal profile and even delete the temp one you created for the purpose of removing the virus.
Re: virus - xp home security 2012
Download and install malwarebyte antimalware.
Open it n update it.
Select no for trial use.
Close malwarebyte antimalware
Disable system restore.
Enter in OS through safe mode without networking.
Run malwarebyte antimalware.
Perform full scan. (It will take time depending ur computer speed and data u have)
It will show u the infected files in the result.
Clean them.
And restart in normal mode
If it doesnt help then u have to Google for advance methods.
Re: virus - xp home security 2012
If you dont find an easy fix your better off upgrading to windows 7, or Vista. Your data from your XP will be put in a folder called windows.old
Windows XP is an over 10 years old operating system, in all aspects you will be better off upgrading.
You could waste hours trying to remove the problem.
Re: virus - xp home security 2012
yes but then you run the risk of programs which may need upgrading and also hardware which just may not be supported by Windows 7.
Re: virus - xp home security 2012
Correct.
Any program worth its while will have a Vista or W7 version. You also have the option to “run in XP mode” any app or setup file.
Re: virus - xp home security 2012
and XP to vista upgrade keeps all your apps intact. If the virus will let you upgrade via windows XP and not the BIOS that is.
