Virus can do crazy stuff on the computer including using your PC in botnet attacks.
Spyware will send your usage info to the mothership so that they can aggregate info and use it for profit.

what about the viruses u can get from internet, like when watching cricket online or movies. I have avoided going to some live streaming websites coz they are known for viruses.
